Hello Tessa and thank you. I have found that a lot of names, places, events, etc in the Bible generally have a meaning, both in the Hebrew and Greek.

In my rather in depth studies of the 7 Churches, one I found particularly interesting is the 2nd Church, Smyrna, which is said to be a derivative of "myrrh"
Myrrh is shown in 2 verses, at both the birth and death/burial of our Lord Jesus.........

G4666 matches the Greek (smyrna), occurs 2 times in 2verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

2:8 "And to The Messenger of the in assembly of Smyrna<4667>, write!

Of the seven churches, two of them received no indictment from the Lord, nor were they told to repent. The church in Smyrna was known as the “suffering church” because of their severe persecutions, and they were not told to repent.

I have found that a good lexicon/concordance is extremely useful. A favorite of mine is:

3464.
muron moo'-ron probably of foreign origin (compare 4753, 4666); "myrrh", i.e. (by implication) perfumed oil:--ointment

4666. smurna smoor'-nah apparently strengthened for 3464; myrrh:--myrrh.

4667. Smurna smoor'-nah the same as 4666; Smyrna, a place in Asia Minor:--Smyrna

We know a lot of Revelation is historical, such as Revelation 12 showing the birth and ascension of Jesus.

Matthew 1:21 and she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.’ [Micah 5:2]
Luke 2:7 and she brought forth her Son — the first-born, and wrapped Him, and laid Him down in the manger, because there was not for them a place in the guest-chamber. [Revelation 12:5]

Revelation 12:5 And she brought forth a Son, a male, Who is being about to be shepherding all the nations in iron rod/staff.

John 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. [Revelation 1:18]

Revelation 1:18 and the living One! And I became dead and behold! I am living into the ages of the ages. And I am having the keys of the Hades and of the Death.

Acts 1:9 And these things having said — they beholding —He was taken up, and a cloud did receive Him up from their sight; [Revelation 12:5]

Revelation 12:5 And she brought forth a Son, a male, Who is about to be shepherding<4165> all the nations in iron rod/staff. And caught away was her Child unto God and His throne,
Thank you GodIsMySavior
This is so interesting I have Cruden's concordance but my eyes are too bad to read books now. I can enlarge on the internet.
It puzzles me wjy the three wise men brought myrrh as a gift to the child Jesus, and it was used for embalming. They knew who Jesus was and it would seem also knew what would happen to Him! When you think how they
Knew it is incredible. How blessed they were.

I would like to believe I love everyone like Jesus commanded us to do. But the truth is I have been drawn into many debates on this forum and that is not love. I need to let others have their own opinion, even if that opinion is unloving. Letting people be a "work in progress" is love. Tolerance is love. Restraint of pen and tongue (AA) is love. Acceptance is love. Love is many things, least among these is that love is hard sometimes.
Too true- love can hurt. But it is still worth loving. It eases the pain.
Good to see you.
