I'm not sure how much money we got left minus rookie money, but I'd really would not be opposed to signing Larry Allen. The guy is still one of the NFL's strongest men and is still a force for any DL to deal with. I think Droughns would love running behind him. He's 34, but I bet he's got about 2 or 3 years left in him.

The season schedules are out. We have a primetime game in December against the Steelers on the NFL Network. I'm glad there are no Monday Night games... although they have the flex schedule now so you never know when we could get moved.

here's the schedule link...

We open the regular season at home again, this time against the Saints. Definitely a winnable game... would be a good confidence builder to take the first game of the year.

I'm disappointed the Browns aren't scrimmaging with the Bills anymore. I enjoyed going to St. John Fisher college and watching it when it was on the every other year rotation. Can't beat watching football in late July and August on a nice warm summer day.

Just noticed it looks like they are trying to avoid home games for us for most of December (except Christmas Eve). Snow games are fun to watch.

Scott young, from Nfl Draft Countdown, in his mock draft has us taking...

1st round: Haloti Ngata DT - Oregon
2nd round: Mathias Kiwanuka DE - Boston College
3rd round: Rodrique Wright DT - Texas

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html

I would be a very happy camper if the Browns could pull that one off. Wright could be a long shot, but you never know how his falling to the third round might motivate him. He has all the measurables.

Kiwi addresses our 34 outside linebacker/ defensive end needs and could be a great one.

Ngata, this guy alone would make the draft for me. They say he could play defensive end in a 34 if need be. The future HOF NT of our defense.

It's getting close.

I still don't think its very likely Ngata gets to us, or that Kiwa drops to us in the second. Kiwa originally had been one of the guys thought to be selected by us in the first round prior to all workouts and combines. I know he's fallen but I don't think he's fallen that far. I agree with you though, its definitely a nice thought and would be great if it came true.

Well, Savage does have a track record of some very good drafts. The Ravens are still doing well from their lower round draft picks of years past. This draft was a bit boring, but maybe that's what a good draft is supposed to look like. 8-)

I think that Wimbly could be very good. I'm surprised that we passed on Manny Lawson, but Phil knows beast. I do think that we could have moved down in the draft and still got Wimbly, but you never know.

D'Qwell Jackson sounds like he could be good. Undersize like Ray Lewis. Not sure how they match up speed wise. D'Qwell is a slow 4.7/40. Maybe he has football speed. Hey, you never know.

Travis Wilson sounds very intreiging. I think that He could be very good. We needed some more guys who could get open.

Leon Williams sounded like a reach.

Isaac Sowells, I don't know, they passed on some well known O- linemen to take this guy, so I hope they got it right.

I like the DeMario Minter pick so far.

Lawrence Vickers sounds more like an eventual replacement for Droughns that a fullback.

Babatunde Oshinowo sounds like a great pick for our future NG. Bob Golic calls him Bababooie okiedokie.

Justin Hamilton Bio from the same site only says this. "Hamilton is a tall safety who might become a linebacker because he's about 230 pounds."

Hmmm, never thought of that.

To be honest, I'm scratching my head after this draft. I'll give Savage the benefit of the doubt for the moment but this is my reaction to the first 4 picks. Wimbley & Jackson = Boulware & Lewis.... huh?!? Travis Wilson from the scouting reptorts sounds like the second coming of Quincy Morgan. I'm a big U fan but Leon Williams never really impressed me all that much... but then again very few Coker recruits have. Bring back Butch Davis to the 'Canes... yes I am serious.

See Dilfer was shipped off to the 49ers and we get one of my all-time favorite QB's Ken Dorsey. I know he hasn't shown he's transitioned all that well from college... but at least he's not coming to Cleveland expecting to be a starter. I do think he has the potential to become a solid b/u though. The move eliminates any QB controversy there may have been. I'm just curious to what the undisclosed draft pick is. My guess is that its likely only a 5th or worse.

I never liked trading for Dilfer to begin with and I'm not surprised that it didn't work out.

Dave... said:
We are cursed.
To every man God has entrusted talents for wise improvement. If rightly used, these talents will reflect glory to the Giver. But the most precious gifts of God may be perverted, and thus become a curse rather than a blessing. . . . {OHC 218.2}
The Lord has given man capacity for continual improvement, and has granted him all possible aid in the work.

Through the provisions of divine grace, we may attain almost to the excellence of the angels.
What shall be said of those who, having had many years of experience in the truth, and many precious advantages for growth in grace, are yet inclined toward the world, and find pleasure in its amusements and display?

Instead of going on from strength to strength, they are, little by little, departing from God, and losing their spiritual life. . . .

Talent can never take the place of piety, nor can the applause of men recommend us to the favor of God.
What the majority of professed Christians need, is genuine conversion. If the heart is right, the actions will be right. An earthly, debasing influence marks the character and the life of those whose hearts do not glow with the fire of true goodness.

Too many profess to be followers of Christ, and feel at liberty to follow their own judgment, and indulge the desires of their own hearts.

JayT, the Brownies aren't covered in the Bible. I agree Dave... we may have just entered the Brady Quinn sweepstakes.

Solid play by the first team defense after they gave up the 1st and goal. They shut down McNabb and the Eagles in the second drive completely. My expectations for this year are really low but on the Defensive side of the ball I'm hoping to see an emergance of a defense to match the hard hitting tough defensive play of our division rivals. Solid LBer play is the key. Also see if KW2 still has it, and if Frye is the right man for the job.

and if Frye is the right man for the job.

That's the question that will be answered this year. This is it for Charlie, he needs to show us some consitancy in moving the offense and scoring.

Well, I think your man F. Jackson will be gone before the start of the regular season. I'm thinking W. Green is out of here also. I hope we can get something for him. I'd take a sixth round pick right now.

I don't want to cut very many of our linebackers. I can think of three at the most who I wouldn't mind cutting. We probably won't be able to, but I want to keep the rest.

Tough call, but Anderson gets the backup QB spot if for no other reason than we can save a draft pick by not signing Dorcey (Conditional upon him making the team.)

I love Jerome Harrison. He should get a lot of playing time.

C. Frye is looking raw. He needs time.

What a difference a nose tackle makes for the D-line. I like our defense so far. We have some good young talent there. I like D'Quell but I don't think he beat out Thomson, yet.
