Poor Mitch Hedberg comes around and is smart and hilarious, but he dies young. What he could have been!
Cohen will probably linger on and on and on....

I do not think the film in any sense promoted gay sex or glorified abortion. I trust we all agree that one mode of actually critiquing a behaviour is to represent it in a manner that exposes its "badness". It is my opinion that this is what Cohen was doing - he was "ridiculing" everybody, including gays.

I agree that the film is rough and raw, and I would think much of that was crude and unnecessary.

I do think there were parts which, although rough, achieved a brilliant social commentary that may not have otherwise been achieved. I am thinking of 2 parts:

1. Where Bruno and the other guys, handcuffed together, encounter the Westboro Baptist protestors.

2. The cage fighting scene near the end.

Still living at home, aka not allowed to see this movie, so I guess I'll never know. Oh well. :shrug Do I really want to see it anyway? Probably not. I'm not sure why it's rated R and not XXX or whatever from what you described! :sad

I'm surprised that you lasted that long. Well whoever doubts my critique and doesn't want to spend money on this loser can read about the film here:
