    It's been happening here, too.

    I think we've outgrown our hosting plan. I keep getting server logs saying "too many connections". And it's running really slow for me.

    I'll talk to the owner about upgrading us.

    Does "too many connections" mean too many members and guests online at the same time? Maybe that's what's needed (upgrading). I'm on other forums where I've seen a lot more people connected at one time on a regular basis with no problems. Here I've seen it slow down to a crawl with only 5 or 6 members and a few guests showing logged on. It's not as bad as it was a few months ago though. Lately it only seems to last a few minutes where a few months ago it became completely unusable for me for some time.

    It means too many requests for the server to handle properly. You wouldn't have seen it so much on other forums because they'd have a better hosting plan, which gives the server more resources like processing power and RAM.

    I see. But I suppose that costs more money too, eh?

    Yes. And I suspect the revenue from here will play a large part on whether he considers it worth upgrading.

    Revenue = donations.

    Or it could look like this, but it's not preferable:
    Revenue = donations + ads.

    Yeah, everything's a trade off I guess.

    Didn't we have ads at one time? Seems like I remember people complaining that some of the ads were pretty seedy and not appropriate for a Christian forum. Or that could have been another forum perhaps...

    I logged on today, and everything on the site is running slow, even typing text is slower than normal. Pop ups are annoying and ads are slowing everything down.

    There are no ads or popups here. Maybe you have some adware in your system.

    I was using my LG smart tv, and there were ads imbedded into the forum. And I was getting pop ups when I clicked on the links in the forums. But there all gone now.

    Well that doesn't happen here, so I'm saying that you do have something. My guess is the Windows Phone.
