What I am getting from this is that we would need to buy a new battery for the phone, and some sort of modified charger. Great.

Batteries. Always the weak link in phones. I'm really looking forward to the day we don't have to always focus on the battery level. There will come a day when we don't have to think about it and be tethered to outlets.

Tesla thought the same thing. About having to be tethered to wires for power.

Trust me....I prefer that electricity stay in the wires...and so do you.

What I anxiously await will have a process no different than what we have today, except that new technology in batteries will greatly extend the life. Today's phones demand more and more power, and the tweaks they're making to batteries can't keep up with the rest of the hardware and software. It'll require a paradigm shift in battery technology.

And it'll need to be globally accepted; not just onesie-twosie in particular OEM models. I'm not on board with wireless charging. I bought one for my G3, and it turned into a coffee coaster. Thoroughly unimpressed.

Power needs of your average person is increasing.

Used to be a 50amp service to a whole house was plenty...now your average heat pump needs 60amps.

The lithium used in the batteries is messy to mine and refine. Just like the Pure silicone needed for electronics. Very messy and poisoning the environment where processed.
