I posted my response in the derailing thread. Whoops! I said:

Ok I listened and IT.WAS.AWESOME!

It literally made my heart cheerful! Very uplifting. :)
Don't ever tell on me but it was written just as or just after the Pentecostal Church split from the Baptist Churches in the early 1900s and was written by John Vaughn. It was heard by me in my Aunt Lucille's Pentecostal church but it was played at a med-slow 3/4 waltz beat. As soon as I heard a college student working with our group to rewrite the music I asked if I could try and the kid went nuts and everybody loved it. If you search youtube you will find many cuts of it now. We have been giving it away since 1999 so I cannot say if they were inspIred by the Spirit or maybe by a tape we gave away with me singing it, but I just stand at the foot of the throne, right there in the throne room and I sing for my LORD. I never fails to bring tears to my eyes and almost always raises the house in worship.

I know this idea has been proposed.

But I too like the idea of a chat box.
And, why couldn't you simply add a kick feature? Say there was a troll, if more than a few people voted on kicking that person from the chat, it'd be so.

And obviously you'd need to censor swear words. Other than that, I doubt anyone would take the time to make an account and "troll". Trust me, I've been to Reddit, I've been to forums with crappy rule sets, heck, I even looked at 4chan for a while (Never do it, ever.) it's rare to see a true "troll".

I really think a chat room would only be beneficial.

Admittedly, I've never been a member of a forum with chat boxes, but the idea above seems like it has the potential to be misused. Someone's idea of what constitutes a troll may differ from others, and I could see almost a clique created leaving some members feeling alienated. I'd expect that on Reddit, but not a faith-based community. Again, this is an inexperienced perspective.

This has been discussed a few times by the team over the years, and the stopper has been the additional monitoring that would be required to the extent that we'd need 24 hour monitoring.

I understand the support for it, but at the end of the day, the staff voted and the result was that they don't want to do it.

What about different chat rooms for specific topics?
So there'd be no arguments, or any escalation in chat?

FWIW, we are all able to add our contact info for other messaging boards in our profile so people are able to reach us through those avenues.

Oh, lol I'm pretty new around here so I didn't realize a thread like this already existed. Anyway, revenue though I really would like a chat box I get what people are saying about how difficult it would be to moderate it. It was only a suggestion.

Good suggestion, but we'll have to pass this time.
Thanks!

That's alright, I'm not sure what I meant with the word revenue in there though? I'm going to blame it on stupid auto correct though whatever it was :lol
