Ever wondered why GOD had to forsake HIS Son on the cross? I think we have. Was HE a sinner? I guess not. HE bore the sins of the world.

However, did HE ask forgiveness? I would say no because HE had no sin. Then how exactly did HE successfully reconcile (if that is the right term to use) with the FATHER?

OK...here's how its been explained to me, mostly by Pentecostals and Southern Baptists....

...Jesus was perfect. God made flesh, sinless, all that. He was the perfect sacrifice, since sin had to be atoned for back then. Once the ultimate, sinless, spotless Lamb was slain, God's wrath was satisfied, and a new way of relating to The Father was opened up. Those who accepted Christ's sacrifice could point to His sinless nature, His sacrifice, as a payment for their sins. He also serves as the ultimate Intercessor and High Priest, so the old system was voided.

That's really all I have for you.

1) Ever wondered why GOD had to forsake HIS Son on the cross?
2) I think we have.
3) Was HE a sinner?
4) I guess not.
HE bore the sins of the world.
5) However, did HE ask forgiveness? I would say no because HE had no sin.
6) Then how exactly did HE successfully reconcile (if that is the right term to use) with the FATHER?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) no.
2) "I think we have" what ? or did you mean "I think I have" ?
3) no
4) you guess ?!?
5) no - well, YES! HE asked forgiveness for those who crucified HIM (and FOR US, whom HE was crucified FOR)
6) HE didn't have anything to reconcile(for Himself). HE IS PERFECT, ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS IS, and ALWAYS WILL BE.

He was life for death.

Mat 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

God never left Jesus as he and the Father are one, John 10:30. In John 16:32 Jesus told his disciples they would leave him alone, but Jesus told them he is not alone for my Father is with me. 2Corinthians 5:19 God was in Jesus reconciling the world to himself.

God never forsook Jesus while he hung on the cross as according to Hebrews 10:7-10 (read the whole Chapter) it was by the offering of the body of Jesus that once and for all we are sanctified through his offering for sin. Jesus was not made sin for us, but made a final offering for us, not Jesus, to reconcile ourselves back to the Father as it was ordained by God in the beginning as his word became flesh to walk among us, John 1:1-5 until Jesus now sits at the right hand of God, Matthew 22:44.

Hebrews 13:5 says God will never leave us nor forsake us. God never forsook any of His prophets in the OT so why would He forsake Jesus while he hung on the cross. Psalms 22:1, 24 is prophetic fulfillment of Jesus making a proclamation to those Jews gathered at Golgotha that as David cried out to God in his hour of despair that God never left David and was right there with him and for all who calls on his name will never be alone as the Father will never leave His own.

I thought about this a little bit. What was Jesus feeling and experiencing at the moment that he said the words, my God My God why has thou forsaken me...Could this be the moment that he bore the sins of mankind? Perhaps (*perhaps!*) God the father, at this moment, drew away from Jesus just for a moment, to be able to make it official, that the price was paid?

After all, what is the torment in hell to be? Is it the fire, the pain? I don't think so. I think the real torment will be the absolute separation from God. We have never felt this because we have always had the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Just conjecture, be gentle!

God had to forsake His son on the cross because He loves us.God's ways are not our ways and we could never understand why He does some of the things He does.Jesus never sinned so he did not have to ask for forgivness for Himself but when He was hanging in the cross He asked for forgivness for those who were doing this to Him.
Luke 23:34
And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.

Why did he do this?

an aramaic translation quotes close to this "my yhwh, my yhwh, for this I have been appointed" .
and many prefer this to the other.
no one has been able to conclusively prove it one way or the other to everyone's satisfaction.

:chin Hmmm, interesting. The Greek doesn't translate to appointed in Strongs. Both, sabachthani and forsaken translate to leave behind, or left me. Nevertheless, appointed does make sense also, and even if it was appointed I don't think it would necessarily mean that the Father didn't leave just for a moment to let it be accomplished and just. Either way it's conjecture on my part but the important thing is, Praise God that He did this for us! Wow. :pray

the greek fouled up a lot. if it ever did any good, Yhwh knows.
see online hebrew vs greek and compare for yourself - there's a good comparison on a home-schooler's site and several others from , well, let's just say, look and see. take your time - months even, if we have that long left. for westerners it's a real shock/ eye opener/ revelation. (and good if they are seeking Truth)
