Without a basis for comparison how do we know what's right or wrong about our cultures idea of morality?

The problems within culture is made evident as we as Christians conform to the ways of Jesus Christ, who is perfect. He is the standard. God's Word is our plumb line.

there's this non christian guy who is in love with me and i finally fell for him coz he cared too much for me. the case now is that i miss him so much and wants to tell him how much i love him but i cant or else it'll b harder for him to let go. i told him v cant b together bcoz of our differences in faith. and it's v difficult for both of us.

he doesn seem to understand why we cannot tolerate each other. i told him i cannot compromise on my beliefs.

help me to help him understand. any advice on this situation??

Hey--looks like everyone got into some Buddhist debate or something, but I'm curious about whether or not you got this resolved.
I can't say I'm in the same boat, but seeing how I go to college with mostly non-Christians, I'm assuming this could happen to me some day. So I'm thinking about what I would do if I were you...

Yeah, it's in the title.

God tells us we must not be unequally yoked and He means it. The fellow will never understand the explanation, but she must simply go ahead, obey God and find herself blessed.

I'd love to say I think a romantic relationship between a Christian and someone else could work, but honestly, I don't think that's possible. There is too much difference. If you are living your life for God, trying to follow a Biblical code of morality and making choices based on your faith and God's guidance, and this guy doesn't even believe that stuff exists, what have you got in common? If you think about where your relationship is headed, would you want to be married to someone who did not value your faith and was unwilling to genuinely join into a covenant with you and God? Because that is what marriage is. Personally, I think friendship is always possible unless the person actively tries to dissuade you from believing, but a romantic relationship is something more. Even if he does become interested in learning more about Christ, it's not a good situation to be in. My advice is stay friends, continue to share your beliefs with him and encourage him to find mentoring within the church, preferably by an older man.
