hi everyone,

something just came to my mind about the christian faith! To me being a Christian is more like a journey because i'm kind of learning a lot of new things which i think is the right way for me. And I was just wondering what everyone else thinks about the faith/religion that you have?

I never have considered myself a religious person, I am a Christian, we are not religious people, we are people of God. To me the other religions are all the same, in a sense, you do X, Y, and Z and in return god(s) give you this and that. You tend to be a lot of sacrificing stuff to god(s) rather than on his behalf. That is religion, man's quest for god(s)

Christianity is different. We don't give or do anything to be a Christian, we ask for the gift that Jesus gave everyone on earth and when we receive it we are new people. God doesn't want us to find Him, He finds us. This is Christianity.

Yes being a Christian is a journey, you meet people and learn things about yourself and others that you'd never learn else wise. It's a family, really, a giant family in Christ!

I have to agree with you there. For the past two years, I have been learning to accept things before I never would have considered, as I am now finding such to be God's way. Looking back at who I was before that, I can see a lot of differences. I mean, I changed, but it wasn't immediate by any mans. But, wow! I used to hate myself, curse God, deny the Bible, practice the occult and witchcraft, and much more. I'm glad and shocked to see the change to now.

However, I can't say that Christianity is a religion unless one makes it a religion. Christianity is a relationship with God. Some people don't have it and others just go through the motions - that is a religion.

thank to both of u for sharing.
i don't really see it as a religion either, i just wanted to find out what other people thought :)

I can't disagree at all with what has been previously said. Christianity is definately not a religion. It is a relationship, a faith, and yes, a journey.

:amen

To me religion gives meaning, purpose, and basic guidlines of living. Its also a set of rules and teachings to get into paradise for an eternity.

Yes, it is a journey. Paul describes it as running a race.

Hebrews 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

I see it as a relationship. Christianity in a whole is a religion and that is what it is, but I see my walk with God as a relationship and that is it. I do not see it as a religion or denomination. Yea, I may be Methodist, but I still see my walk with God as a relationship.

It is a journey, and a difficult journey at that. Jesus even warns us that it will be hard. He tells us that it will have many hardships, but at the end it is ALL worth it. I mean to put it this way, at the end of the day go back and look at all the amazing things God did in your life, your first one would be, You got another day to live. Then you continue the list and you see how worth it is.Then when you think about it, when you die and you have followed Christ and accepted Him as your saviour, then you have Heaven to look forward to.

So yea, it is much like a journey and a journey that I thoroughly enjoy walking on. :)

(I am extremely tired right now so I apologize for any misunderstanding or going off subject.)
