Jethro Tull is most certainly rock! Try Aqualung, Locomotive Breath ...

I actually listened to those two songs and they are indeed rock songs. It's just that this one, although still a very good song didn't sound like a rock song.

I Think AC/DC have got great talent and they are known as the greatest and best selling rock band in the world, but im not really a fan. Its a bit too full on for me.

When I heard axl rose join I thought it was the biggest joke and fail, but I acturally heard him and he didnt sound too bad.[/QUOTE

Yeah, I used to be a fan until I found out that some of their songs were making a mockery of Jesus. Papa Zoom even said that they went on record saying that religion was bad and Jesus was a joke. That's when I decided that I didn't want to waste my time listening to a band who acted like that when there is still a lot of good bands out there and this topic proved it. Sure, I admit, I like listening to a lot of stuff I wouldn't normally listen to at Halloween, but all of the scary and "evil" songs that I listen to are fake and just fun stuff for Halloween which in my mind is totally different than declaring that Jesus wasn't the Son of God and being on and Highway to Hell and not even caring about it. For instance, one of my favorite songs ever is The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels and I listen to and enjoy that song any time of the year. First of all Charlie Daniels is a Christian, and second of all he is a good storyteller and all that song is to me is basically a story. Or rather, pretend. And since it doesn't talk about being on a highway to Hell and actually enjoying it and having a real relationship with the devil, I guess that's why I don't feel the conviction of the holy spirit listening to it.

Although when Halloween does happen to roll on by again, I'm really going to have to listen to the holy spirit and make sure that I don't feel differently about some of the songs. At least I know that God really will forgive me if I feel like I made a mistake on some of the stuff I have been listening to. I guess the best thing I can do is pray about it.

April, your post #61 makes a great point, in your response that's within Dan's quote. (Look at that to see where I'm coming from) While I don't want to ruin all the well-written music in Jesus Christ Superstar, it was written by two people who hate Jesus. It's written from Judas' perspective, and makes Judas the hero. It presents Jesus as a selfish, confused loser. That's why it's always been controversial among the Faithful.

Really? I never got that impression. I don't recall them ever going on record saying that they hated Jesus. And I certainly don't think they made Judah the hero, I think they just left it up for interpretation on whether or not Jesus was the Son of God. They might not be believers themselves, but I don't think that they ever made it out that He wasn't. And sorry for that one post, I couldn't get the quote button to work.

I dont see that.

It's written from Judas' perspective,
Essentially, yes, it is - that's why there is so much "wrong" with it - Judas WAS wrong.

and makes Judas the hero.
Again, I dont see that.
It presents Jesus as a selfish, confused loser.
If anyone was presented as confused, wrong, lost - it is Judas. It was made CLEAR in the play that Jesus was in control of what was happening to Him - and that is correct.

Oh okay good, I'm not the only one who sees it like this. I wouldn't enjoy it otherwise.

What I posted is what the authors said about it. As well as what they wanted to portray.

I'm sorry but I have the DVD and I don't recall them ever mentioning that in the interviews. All they said is that they wanted to capture Jesus as a man and leave it up for interpretation whether or not He was the Son of God. If they did say that somewhere then I never saw it.

Oh by the way, in the song The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Johnny beats the devil and good triumphs over evil. :)
It's based of a short story, the devil and Daniel webster.which is the moral of don't sin,and think you can not pay.

A man made a deal with satan and was wanting to avoid death,he lost as he waa tricked by satan.no Johnny said ,if you want to try again ,satan, feel free cause I've told you once you son of a bitch,I'm the best that's ever been.

Which is a very good moral, but I honestly think that you should have posted the edited version instead. As for Jesus Christ Superstar, as long as I don't believe that they were mocking Jesus and and accusing Him to be not who said He was which I don't, then I really don't see the harm in it.
