nope but it helps

It only helps if one receives that which they need the most which is Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Just like a car needs oil to make it run and a driver behind the wheel on its journey down the road, we too need the oil that is the anointing of the Holy Spirit who indwells us and guides us down that straight and narrow path.

Car analogies :shrug here's a couple from the 70's we use to sing, wow, showing my age again :lol. Yep, 63 and what a crazy roller coaster ride of emotions it was back in the day.

Give me gas for my Ford keep me trucking for my Lord, keep me trucking till the end of day
Give me gas for my Chevy keep my testimony heavy, keep it heavy till the end of day

Did you ever sing these ones Razeontherock? Fun little ditty songs.

You made me chuckle! I do remember that but can't remember where I heard it, that one didn't make it into the ones we actually sang

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Also Matthew 25:34-40.

These scriptures alone shows what God's true religion is. It's not four walls with fancy furnishings and expensive sound systems. It's not the choir or any music ministry and most importantly it is not denominations or non-denominations. It's all about the assembling as we all come together to lift up and edify one another, helping and supporting the needs of others. God anoints those within the assembling with Spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit to keep the assembling of the saints of God operating smoothly under His statures and commands, 1 Corinthians 12.

People say I am not a Christian if I do not go to church (four walls), but I tell them the Church is the body of Christ assembled together as we learn from those who God has anointed to teach us. Unfortunately since the doors of the last Church my husband and I attended had to close we have never found another where we were Spiritually fed. Some also say the internet can not be a church, but I disagree as right here in CF we are the body of Christ assembled together according to those scriptures I gave. We might not be face to face, but yet are in unity of the Spirit. We lift up and edify as well as learn from those who God has called to teach us. There will be disagreements, but should never be hostile heated debates for this brings no glory to God, but only shame on ourselves. It's up to each individual to seek out truth from error by testing the spirits that are operating, 1 John 4:1-6, as we are ever learning and growing in the Lord.

To me this is the difference with going to church or being the church.

i seen this coming i never said the 4 walls made the church.. the assembling of our self as the manner of some.. is even a o.t principal . granted there are bodies that worship the building . we need live fellowship i have had to leave a church .it is hard and stressful .the church we attend is not perfect imo many should dig a lil deeper no church group is perfect . i enjoy listening to james merrit but at home i get easy; distracted . i seldom even pray at home unless i am in bed.. my car is my prayer closet . in many cases the reason of finding a new church is not there. due to the fact we are to picky on what we think church is... i like evangelical preaching and song services.. the church i attend its not there. but the preacher feeds good .which is what i need the most have a good night

I know you never said four walls made the church, even though some do think that way. I was just pointing out what the assembling meant as all who are in Christ and He in them makes up the true body of Christ. There are many good Spirit fed Churches, but have yet to find one in my area. I do have the face to face with some friends to assemble with as we have Bible studies together on the weekends.

the barna study i read made it seem like maybe 1 in 3 -church going- Protestants have a solid Biblical worldview. that doesn't guarantee they're Heaven-bound, but it is a definite 1st step, I would imagine. overall, something like 9% of americans have such a worldview, with higher rates in The Bible Belt, lower rates (I think...) out west and in the north east, there's also age and gender differences...interesting (I suppose...).

i thought about it, and...1 in 3? church goers? that's not exactly stellar data, but then again...-if- salvation is more God's work than ours, it kinda makes sense, right? Right. I dunno, actually.

well...1/2 truths can draw people in. the stuff one likes about the truth, plus stuff you just...want to hear. something like that. or some biblical truths, minus the hard teachings, or...on and on it goes.

i think one can get hooked on religion. any religion. gives social life, meaning, identity, a place to park your shiny new suv....why not?!?!

if the calvinists are correct, then in 21st century america...2 out of 3 church goers are -false conversions- or at least...lots of people have yet to be genuinely regenerated by The Holy Ghost. something like that, anyway.

or maybe its lack of discple-ing, false doctrine floating around...i dont know. i lean towards TULIP, but that's just me. many are called, few are chosen. wheat+the tares. broad road, narrow way.
