well...1/2 truths can draw people in. the stuff one likes about the truth, plus stuff you just...want to hear. something like that. or some biblical truths, minus the hard teachings, or...on and on it goes.

i think one can get hooked on religion. any religion. gives social life, meaning, identity, a place to park your shiny new suv....why not?!?!

if the calvinists are correct, then in 21st century america...2 out of 3 church goers are -false conversions- or at least...lots of people have yet to be genuinely regenerated by The Holy Ghost. something like that, anyway.

or maybe its lack of discple-ing, false doctrine floating around...i dont know. i lean towards TULIP, but that's just me. many are called, few are chosen. wheat+the tares. broad road, narrow way.
There is a difference between following Jesus and being a member of a congregation. Too often people put their faith in the church. And not Jesus. Too often the emphasis is, "come to church" when it needs to be, " look what Jesus has done!".

Jesus is so simple I have no idea why some people are religious.

Jesus taught in simplicity even explaining the parables He taught. He never boasted or apperaed to be anyone, but Himself. Man's religion is like the Pharisees who loved to be seen and heard, but Jesus called them hypocrites, Matthew 23:27, 28.

yeah, but..what if the reason they put their faith in man and such is because they haven't been provided w/ what they need to truly believe upon Jesus...either because of timing or because they're not really part of the invisible church?

Here's one fun thing about predestination...can't really argue, can you? "if you're a genuine conversion, you'll stay the course." xyz strayed away...-not- a genuine conversion. how can i possibly argue with the logic? LOL...

There are some people who do think they are more righteous than others and think they important why someone else is acturally asking God for mercy.

Oh my,.. another thread of Ezra's trying to shove the importance of church attendance down our throats. :nag *heaves a heavy sigh* Ah well,.. that's not why I came to this thread. I'm not really interested into getting another argument with him seeing as he's an evangelist and I'm not so what's the point if we just don't see any common ground? The reason I came here believe it or not is because although I'd rather be a cat instead, I wanted to get in on all of the car action. :lol
