Chris, if I didn't know you better, I'd think you were a Darwinian agnostic. So, cigarettes are a way of thinning the herd? :lol

For the 1000th time, I've never smoked, but we should be nice while we're direct about it. Or we could call all people who eat snack food pigs that need to be carved out too.
I'm 40 and before I was born there was enough education about the health risks of smoking for me to avoid it. If anyone takes up smoking in the last 30 years they don't care about their bodies too much. They have a disregard of everyone they do it near. They will die young and unwell prematurely. Like I said its culling the gene pool. It's sad but true.

I have watched people around me die from associated health risks all my life. It sux.

I can't understand anyone doing it. It's like breathing asbestos voluntarily.

People are voluntarily killing themselves I think it's dumb. Life is precious.

For once in my life I was being politically incorrect. I guess is something I hate passionately. Because of lives lost in my life. It's a bit different to chocolate.

The truth is usually bitter when it comes in such open nakedness. That tone is just a missile :lol and it is the truth.

Does smoking taste like honey? Does the fume have the fragrance of the oil on my little niece's hair?

See I'd rather with with a guy who spits than a guy who smells like smoke. Unless he smokes cigars because there are few things that smell better than a fine cigar (and asphalt is one of them :biggrin ).

If we consider the longsuffering of God to be our salvation, how much more so shall we suffer long with our brothers and sisters [who smoke]?

Although this may dredge up an old battle, what, exactly are you saying here?

If you are saying that we should sympathize with the smoker who is addicted, and fully embrace them as a member of the body of Christ, I am with you 110 %.

If, on the other hand, you are saying that we should not strongly encourage the smoker to quit, or suggest that smoking is morally acceptable, then I would disagree.

God accepts us as we are, but does not leave us where we are.

You know what I think your right, being able to empathize with suffering is really handy at funerals to comfort grieving relatives.

Parenting other peoples children is a handy skill to learn too.

sorry guys for my emotional responses in here Iv been to a few funerals and smoking was involved, there's a few gaps in my family and friends...

I couldn't condone it in any way. To do it would men I dont care about you.

Agreed (so far as it goes).

God does not condone smoking. Nowhere does He say, "Go ahead."
Also, nobody is seeking your permission, but that goes without saying doesn't it? To me, this fact makes the whole discussion moot.

Hi Drew, thanks for your thoughts here that I agree with (as you say) 110%.

A boy met me few days ago and asked me to help him fix his phone. The contact end of the battery had an open. So the stuff needed a kind of padding. A thin film of a metallic conductor was a brilliant option (stuff like very slim foil).

I remember we used a similar material for a gold leaf electroscope ages ago when I was in Highschool.

So, I told the kid to go get the shiny golden stuff found in cigarette boxes (used in wrapping the sticks.) At first glance I saw his face contort with amazement. There was distaste in his eyes. He reluctantly left.

After a century, he came back to me and said:
'I couldn't. I can't touch it. What would they say when they found out I touched such a thing?'

The shock on his face was unbearable.

He was supposed to search for the stuff in mini bars or even buy a packet of it. To cut it short, this kid sent someone else to pick it for him.

It is surprising how people react to things.

I've been a smoker longer than I've been saved, unfortunately. Obviously, it's very bad. I wish I could find it in me to quit and walk away from it, but it's amazing what us smoker's will do for a cigarette. I feel that the sinful part was tacked on more by society than any other but our bodies are a temple and we know it's bad for us so yes, it's sinful to smoke in my eyes.

Thanks for being very 'white' with the matter. I tell friends: 'If you miss it for a day - you'd still survive'...and that is one of the ways to start withdrawing from it.

How 'bout those Cigarette Smoking Christians?!

Good? Bad?
Okay? Not Okay?
Saved? Not Saved?
Habit? Sin? Habitual sin?

I'm interested to hear your opinion AND the manner in which you express them.

Be blessed, Stay blessed!
I would suggest taking a Romans 14 view (you can read Romans 14 for yourself).

I cannot judge another by his/her actions. That is between God and the smoker. I am sure God still loves the smoker and just wants them to make cleaner, wiser choices.

The never ending debacle about smoking.
A person eats food laced with preservatives, etc. and ingredients known to give you cancer while they tell you how bad you are for smoking.
Smoking is just another thing in the long list of stuff we do wrong.
There is more info out there today on how we eat wrong yet everyone thinks they eat right.
Every time you drive your car, the emissions are the same as blowing smoke in someone's face.
These arguments are mundane.
They never go anywhere.

By the way, who smokes pipes these days?
Anyone?
