I will not be involved in any group that promotes fear and such, nor that takes up some stand against the world order. But my trust is to be in God and His ability to keep me, no matter what is to come.

I'm not trying to promote fear or fighting the NWO, just trying to understand. We must remember though, that the beginning of Wisdom is the fear of the Lord, so there's that. I hear a very interesting sermon yesterday, where he spoke of such things and made the point that the European Economic Community is also a prime candidate to possibly be a contender for being the beast with 10 horns that is spoke of in Revelation, so I have some homework to do there...

He also said something about that Babylon (the city) is to be rebuilt, and that Saddam Hussien had already started construction of it? It is to be built on/near the Euphrates river as before? And that Babylon was conquered before by Cyrus (or Alexander the great, don't recall) and the way in which they did it, was to dam the Euphrates river and come under into the city? Revelation also speaks of the Euphrates river "drying up" in the last days and part of the events that are to come to pass? Lots to think about here and lots of homework to do...

I agree that a harlot rides upon the beast. But the understanding of being in this world and "coming out" out it by faith and life in the Spirit is a common understanding of scripture. So we could be in the babylon system and yet be as Dan, and the others and refuse to dance to its tune or partake of its idols.
So then part of your point? is not a very good one, in my understanding of the truth. For instance we who are IN CHRIST should have come out of the world. I am surrounded by ungodly people yet I am not a part of their ungodly ways.

Hi Mitspa!

We are not told to come out of the world?
We are to be ‘in’ the world, but not ‘of’ the world.

Being separated from the world has always been our call.
This is a call by God to His people in the end times, to come out of her (Babylon)

Babylon is also said to be a city, were as the US (or any other nation) is not a city.

Rev 18:20 "Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her!"

The blood of the 'apostles' are upon Rome, and Rome was filled with Babylonian paganism that was also adopted into Roman church.

I have not seen any fault in what you have been discussing Edward. I have found your honest views to be refreshing!

There is a godly fear, that leads to love, and there is a fear that leads to bondage.
Hard to explain but basically false fear makes one doubt God and His good intentions toward those who trust in Christ.

For we see that the first cast into the lake of fire is the fearful and unbelieveing.

So the "phobos" as used in scripture has a negative and positive place in the truth of the gospel. It takes some time to understand the intention of how it is used, as you probably already know?

My point being that we should not be moved by fear of this world but by faith in Our God.

Well I think you might have missed to point I was making? that to be called to come out, is well described in the scriptures as being seperated from, in a sense to be holy unto God.

Now I do not hold that the great harlot church, is the end of all false religion! But maybe the mother of them all?

And the "bablylon" as descibed in Rev. is not fulfilled with the understanding of it being a city in and by itself, but rather a system and a kingdom, better decribes that which we see in the prophecy.

You mean, like Orthodox Christianity? Their whole theology is based on FEAR!

How many Christians are today using their service to God as a fire escape?
How many are serving God only out of fear of going to Hell, as a slave in fear of a tyrant?

I would say; MOST!

If these 'Christians' had the fear of Hell removed from them, how many would promptly go tell God to 'stick it' and then proceed to drown themselves in carnal pleasures and fleshly pursuits?

Again, I would say; MOST!

And, if I may ask:

Has the doctrine of eternal torment kept people from backsliding?
Has it turned the world to God?
Has it made the streets in your city safe to walk at night?
Has it kept the Christians from growing spiritually cold, or from committing disgraceful sins?
Has it prevented Churches from becoming worldly, or sinking into apostasy?

It has not!

Revelation 18:4 "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her [BABYLON], my people"

Hi Osgiliat!

Whilst I can agree with most of what you have shared, I believe that we have this 'mystery Babylon' who is the 'mother' of all harlots (all the other false religions you mention)

Revelation 17:7 "And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns."

This angel is going to tell us the mystery of the woman, the beast, the heads, and the horns. Satan will work differently in this second earth age, than he worked in the first earth age [given in Revelation 12:1-6]. Then the crowns of power was given to the kings that sat over the people, where as in Revelation 13:1-3 we saw that it was the ten agencies of power that wore the crowns of power, not individuals.

Revelation 17:8 "The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is [shall come]."

This "beast" was in the Garden of Eden deceiving [beguiling] Eve; he is not here now, for he is in heaven accusing the saints before the throne of God, now. He [Satan] will ascend out of the bottomless pit, as we saw in Revelation 9:1, and 2, and "he will go to perdition", following the judgment at the end of the Millennium kingdom age. Friend, "he" spoken of here, is Satan, and don't let any one tell you any different. Satan is the "son of perdition" as recorded in II Thessalonians 2:1-4, and he will be the first Christ to come at the end of this earth age.

"Perdition" means to "perish", and only Satan has had that sentence passed on him at this time. We are told that those "whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world", [that first earth age], will wonder, or follow after Satan. They fell in the first earth age, and they will also fall in this earth age. Those of who were chosen in that first earth age stood against Satan then, and they will also stand now. They are God's elect.

When the last of the elect, and the 144,000 of Israel are sealed, then Satan will arrive as the Antichrist. This age is a repeat of the first earth age. Now, what about the other Christians? They will follow false doctrine, and go into Satan's camp. The deception will cover the whole earth, yet the truth is in your hands to forewarn those around you in this generation.
There will be no equal to the deceptions that are going to come, in the history of all mankind. Yet the sermons of today are full of nonsense, with no sense of urgency given even as this great hour of deception is at our doorstep.

Revelation 17:9 "And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth."

If you understand God's prophecy, then you have "wisdom". The "Mountains" are seven nations, or dominions. They are areas of land, and all seven dominions comprise the entire earth. They will make up Satan's earthly kingdom. A "kingdom" is "a king and his domain". The "woman", or this false religion will sit and rule over all seven of these dominions. "She" is the religion of Satan , and the eighth verse told us it is Satan [the beast] that will sit over the woman.

Revelation 17:10 "And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space."

Now we get to something a little different. When we go back to verse eight, we will understand it.
There were ten kings at first, but this deals with seven different kings. These seven kings have been over their dominions for some time. There is only one king that Christ has given power over all the earth in the past two thousand years, and that king is Satan. These seven kings represent the seven offices that Satan has held, from the "dragon" in the first earth age, "serpent" in the garden, all the way through this age to the Antichrist at the end of this age. There has been five roles that Satan has and is playing to this date, and Satan is our "accuser" before the throne of God today, but in time he will be right here on earth filling the role of Antichrist, which will be for a very short time. Satan's final role starts shortly, very shortly, with Michael casting him out of heaven [Revelation 12:7]. He will have only five months in his final role of this earth age.

Revelation 17:11 "And the beast that was, and is not even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition."

Remember in verse eight, "he" was the one out of the pit. Satan's "eighth" role is when he goes into perdition. Why, "of the seven"? Because he was over the seven, one entity in all seven positions; and now this eighth is his last.
No one except Satan has been judged and sentenced already to perdition, as recorded in Ezekiel 28:18. This beast is the son of perdition, and "perdition" means "to destroy" or destroyer.

Revelation 17:12 "And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power [authority] as kings one hour with the beast."

These "ten horns" are ten kings, and all these kings exists at the same time. They are not like the seven kings of the roles of Satan. They do not rule until a specific time, and then they rule for one hour.

The beast [Antichrist] must appear first, then their power will be given to them by the Antichrist. This is after the deadly wound has been healed, the ending of the one world political system. This is the "hour of temptation" Jesus speaks of and warned us of seven times. The warnings are given so that we will not follow, or be deceived by this beast in that final hour [of this age]. The elect and the sealed of God will not be tempted in that hour, for they know who the tempter is [Satan].
This is the time to have your Spiritual armor on and ready for the battle. There is no "rapture" or escape from this hour of temptation here on earth, but God's armor is sufficient to protect you during this spiritual battle. I am aware that this is the point that deceivers use to draw you in; however, it is the very deception that will lead you to the Antichrist.

Revelation 17:13 "These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast."

Revelation 17:14 "These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of Lords, and King of kings: and they [those sealed with the truth in their minds] that are with him are called, and chosen and faithful

Revelation 17:15 "And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues."

He continues explaining the symbols. The "waters" are "the people, and nations of all languages of the earth" that the Antichrist will sit upon. Mystery Babylon will control the entire earth, and that means you, unless you have been sealed in your mind, prior to when the Antichrist arrives.

Revelation 17:16 "And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire."

These ten horns, or agencies of authority will actually hate the people caught up in this satanic religious system. In Revelation 9:4 we saw this army of locust will burn [deceive] all, with the permission of God, except for the elect. "Fire" is the deception, lies, and tricks in this spiritual battle, while God's big weapon is His Holy Word. Hebrews 12:29 states that "God is a consuming fire".

They will make Christians "naked" by taking away all their righteous acts, for when they take "the mark of the Beast", they throw away their acts and works before Satan. Our garments in the next age are made up of our righteous act. We will read of this in Revelation 19.

Revelation 17:17 "For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled."

It is God who puts the will in the hearts of these ten kings, or world rulers to fulfill God's will. It is God's will, and under His control and authority that all that should come to pass; will come to pass, exactly as His Word said it would. We are observers in this generation, with the mission to plant seeds of truth until the arrival of the Antichrist. Then be willing to be used by the Holy Spirit, as he talks through us during this time of the tribulation.

Revelation 17:18 "And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."

This is a symbolic city. It is made up of one thing, Confusion. A mind set that brings all minds and thoughts of the world into a common bond. They agree to accept the idolatry, and the entire world order, both political and religious. The city is not a city as we think of cities today, but a state of mind, which is in accord and agreement with Satan's religious order. That state of mind will be what rules the authorities controlling all mankind, except God's elect. Got it? I hope so.

Don't many futurist believe the OWG is a ushering in of the return of Christ?

Actually it ushers in satan............,,But with the return of Christ not far off,3 1/2 days after the 2 witnesses are killed as a matter of fact......

The one world government is that which shall receive the deadly wound, whom satan shall heal.....

Yes God is in control! He wrote a book over 2000 years ago telling us to watch and be ready. I do not think that most who call themselves christians, have been watching much but the TV? and I doubt that most are ready for a real trial of their faith. So all who just kinda brush the issue aside are welcome to there own veiws? I heard there was some really good TV shows coming out this year!

Wow. I have my Bible open to this page right now. I just read this verse within the last two minutes, and breaked for a cup of coffee and to check in here for a moment...and here this is! Daniel is a very interesting book that I started to study yesterday, just by chance. (or not!)

It seems King Nebuchadnezzar had a big ego.

Forgive my wording that is what I was referring to.... so shouldn't Christians be doing all they can to promote OWG?

I could make the point that most are doing that very thing! lol
We see how the so-called christian "church" will rally behind anyone who clams to represent god? point in case is the recent election where the so-called leaders accepted the mormon religion and would gladly cover its false doctrines in order to gain even so false sense of political power!

These people will approve the mark of the beast with no thought if they can gain some political power of their egos are stroked by the right political group. Then they will get behind the pulpit and sell the deception to most of what is called the "church". This is not a statement of fear! but one of proven fact as we have seen in the last few months and years!

I see now where some are getting the idea of Babylon being a system of false religion. Re-reading Revelation 17 & 18 in my written (NKJV) Bible, I see the footnotes detailing this. Perhaps it is part allegorical and part literal. I will pray on this. I will write the entire footnote below as it appears in my NKJV, and let it be expounded upon, as well as pose a question.

Revelation 17:1-6 The great harlot, identified with Babylon (v. 5) is a powerful and wealthy system of false religion. Since the days of Nimrod (see Gen. 10:8-10 and note on 1 Chr. 1:10) and the tower of Babel in Shinar (see Gen. 11:2-9), Babylon has been synonymous with idolatry as well as militarism. False religion, furthermore, has often allied itself with government throughout history (v.2). Chapter 17 thus uses the figure of Babylon to depict the religious aspect of mankind's final attempt at self-government, and chapter 18 portrays it's political aspect. sits on many waters: See v. 15. sitting on a scarlet beast: This woman, the great harlot, is empowered by the beast, the Antichrist. names of blasphemy: The beast claims to be God. seven heads and ten horns: See: 12:3, 13:1. The saints and martyrs (witnesses) of Jesus are the victims of the system's power, as they were under Rome during the first centuries of the church./

Interesting. Am I to trust the footnote? Who wrote the footnote? I'll pray about this. I heard a sermon recently, in which this was partially discussed, and a reference was given that is somehow related (I wont say, how right now) but rather give the reference, and ask for others interpretation of it to see if it is inline with what was told to me. So the question is thus: What is Zechariah 5: 5-15 about and how does it relate to us as Christians?

15 Then the angel who talked with me came out and said to me, “Lift your eyes now, and see what this is that goes forth.”

6 So I asked, “What is it?” And he said, “It is a basket[a] that is going forth.”

He also said, “This is their resemblance throughout the earth: 7 Here is a lead disc lifted up, and this is a woman sitting inside the basket”; 8 then he said, “This is Wickedness!” And he thrust her down into the basket, and threw the lead cover over its mouth. 9 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were two women, coming with the wind in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven.

10 So I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are they carrying the basket?”

11 And he said to me, “To build a house for it in the land of Shinar;[c] when it is ready, the basket will be set there on its base.”/ (NKJV)

Yeah, that's the thing. To trust it or not. It certainly is not the word of God. I found out that the NKJV has only been around since 1975 and is the third most popular selling Bible at this time. Compiled by a man named Arthur Farastad and I have no history on him or his affiliations. I presume that he wrote the footnotes. If it is so popular, that may be a red flag in and of itself because the majority is usually wrong (wide is the path to destruction). So I'm not taking it to heart, merely continuing to do what I can do to do my homework and explore all avenues of study and research.

Masonic footnotes? Is that a presumption, or do you know something of this? Give! ;)

I have not studied much on the NKJV but it is well know that the first KJV had masonic influence and was actually covered in masonic symbols! So I think one should be aware that not all that comment on the scriptures are seeking the glory of Christ. But the Spirit of truth is greater than any attempt by man to frustrate the truth of scripture! If one is willing to heed the Spirit and not the opinion of man and tradition?

Be very cautious with any footnotes Edward. The only "notes" I would ever trust are direct references to the original Hebrew and Greek languages, nothing else.

And yes, Babylon is the system of false religion - the "religion" of Christianity being the primary "voice" of Babylon. The Bible confirms this.

Revelation 18:4 "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her [Mystery Babylon the Great], MY PEOPLE, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues."

God calls HIS PEOPLE out of Babylon. "Come out of her, MY PEOPLE"

Matthew 22:14 "Many are called but few are chosen."

Few realize that there is a "church WITHIN the church." When God chooses us FROM AMONG the called, we become separate from "our brethren."

Just as Joseph's brethren were "called" as the patriarchs of Israel (God's people), Joseph was "chosen" from among "the called" and separated from his brethren.

Those "chosen" - who COME OUT of Babylon are still "The Church of the Living God," but they are a peculiar people that no longer follow the traditions of men, which the many called who are building the house upon the sand continue to follow:

1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath CALLED YOU OUT OF DARKNESS into his marvellous light."

Here is further confirmation with regard to the identity of Babylon.

Revelation is addressed to the SEVEN CHURCHES, not to the unbelieving world. The seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3 are the churches of the Living God! (the called) They are not pagan churches, neither are they Satan's churches, but they are GOD'S churches! It is none other than Jesus Christ Himself Who

"...walks in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks [which are the seven churches]" (Revelation 2:1).

"He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit [of GOD] says unto the churches" (Revelation 1:7, 11, 17, 29, 2:6, 13, 22).

The number "SEVEN" in God's Word represents "COMPLETENESS." So the SEVEN churches in Revelation 2 & 3 represent the COMPLETE Church of God.

Full-Preterists will argue this fact, but they are blinded by a rigid, literal approach to the dead "letter of the word" and can't even comprehend the basic dictionary meaning of the word "spiritual." If the writers of the New Testament applied the full-preterist's literal, sectarian method of hermeneutics to the Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament, Christ would have fulfilled NOTHING from the Old Testament that prophesied His Advent. ZERO!

The Jews of Christ's day were the 'church' of Christ's day. And the church of Christ's day represents the church of today.

Acts 7:38 This is he [Moses], that was in THE CHURCH IN THE WILDERNESS with the angel [Christ] which spake to him [Moses] in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us."

Where is the church of today? Is it "seated with Christ in heavenly places" as were those who came out of the church in the wilderness in Christ's day?

Ephesians 2:6 "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

The answer is NO. The church of today is in the exact same place that it was in the days of Christ. It is still to this day "the church IN THE WILDERNESS." And we are told that this is so:

Revelation 12:14 "And to THE WOMAN were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into THE WILDERNESS, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent."

Because at some point, we were all part of this "church in the wilderness," we have always read the words "she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent" as something very positive.

But should we? What actually became of the "church in the wilderness" according to the Scriptures?

1 Corinthains 10:5 "But with many of them [all but Caleb and Joshua] God was not well pleased: for they were OVERTHROWN IN THE WILDERNESS."

Hebrews 3:17 "But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases FELL IN THE WILDERNESS?"

"The wilderness" is spiritual language which conveys the thought of rebellion. That is the very meaning of "in the wilderness." That is why we are informed that even Christ was in the wilderness "with wild BEASTS." (recall the Beasts of Revelation 13:1-10; 13:11-18)

Mark 1:13 "And he was there IN THE WILDERNESS forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild BEASTS; and the angels ministered unto him."

Understanding the "church in the wilderness" above, we have the key to knowing that BABYLON is a RELIGIOUS system:

Revelation 17:3 "So he carried me away in the spirit INTO THE WILDERNESS: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns."

Where did John see the WOMAN? "So he carried me away in the spirit INTO THE WILDERNESS!"

Remember,

Acts 7:38 This is he [Moses], that was in THE CHURCH IN THE WILDERNESS with the angel [Christ] which spake to him [Moses] in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us."

What are Babylon's characteristics?

Revelation 17:4 "And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication."

Revelation 17:5 "And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth."

Babylon appears as a righteous woman who is decked with gold and precious stones and pearls. She is very generous and is filled with many wonderful works towards her fellow man. But Babylon is a harlot whose greatest joy is to please men, and not her true and ultimate husband, our Lord. She "has a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication". It is enough to deceive and seduce us all at our appointed time. She is much too subtle for any man to resist by himself or by his own wisdom. It requires knowing the Word of God, and trying the spirits (1 John 4:1) of Babylon to see her as she is described above in Revelation 17:3-5.

There is so much more in the Scriptures that confirm the fact, but I hope you can see that the woman [the church IN THE WILDERNESS] is BABYLON!

You can't just guess, or assume these things Edward. You have to seriously seek and study the Word of God with prayer, and with a mind and heart that isn't biased by the leaven of Babylon!

Osgiliath, that is good advice and I thank you for it. This is hard stuff to understand. I'm not putting any faith into the footnotes in my Bible. I prayed about this last night, and while I did not receive understanding about the who what where's of of Babylon, I did seem to be impressed with the feeling that we should not worry too much about this issue, but rather to hold to my simple faith in Jesus and what it was that he did. To continue to seek the face of the Lord through all manner of prayer and supplication.

It would be nice to have all the answers, but perhaps it is not for us to know everything. These things are what must be, however they play out to fulfill Gods plan. I have plenty of possible theories to keep in mind so however it goes I should be be able to recognize it when it happens as it unfolds. Keeping my faith in the Lord and continuing to seek Jesus personally through prayer and obedience is what I will do. I'm glad I'm out of Revelation and into Matthew now in my studies. It's very much more uplifting for my spirit. Not that I fear the coming events, for yea though I walk through valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for the Lord is with me. Come Lord Jesus.

I agree that religion is part of Babylon but I don't see it as the whole, first there are billions ofpeople alive now and many of them believe in things outside of 'religion' however they still are putting a religious like faith in them. Science, technology, political change etc. So I ask you to consider she is the embodiment of all things people believe in outside of what God is offering mankind.
