The civil war being about slavery it was about the preservation of the union.Lincoln said that himself
Read the question again. It asked what was ONE thing that led to the Civil War. It didn't ask what was THE thing that led to the Civil War. Slavery was part of the equation.

In order to become a US citizen, immigrants must pass the Naturalization Test. American citizenship bestows the right to vote, improves the likelihood of family members living in other countries to come and live in the US, gives eligibility for federal jobs, and can be a way to demonstrate loyalty to the US. Applicants must get 6 answers out of 10 in an oral exam to pass the test. According to US Citizenship and Immigration services, 92 percent of applicants pass this test.

You must get 58 or more of these test questions correct in order to pass.

1. Who signs bills to become laws? More questions
I scored 85%. A lot of those questions would not help someone coming into this country become a good citizen. I would say most Americans under 30 today would fail the test.

How could they fail the test if they want to be active citizens? The questions were basic history and politic 101.

You're right but my eighth grade History Teacher, Mrs. C. C. Allen would begin each First Semester Class with: Those who will not learn History are doomed to repeat it's mistakes. She was right and the evidence is all around us.

Because it was the opinion of the previous poster you quoted. Opinions don't count, a person wouod have to research to find the truth.
If a person wanted to be a citizen of this country and advantage themselves of all the rights and privileges afforded citizenship, they'd study to pass the actual citizenship test.

Have you not seen Waters world on Fox. He goes out and asks college kids questions about American History and politics most fail to answer correctly.
He was likely a fan of Jay Leno. Leno use to go out and ask that same type question to average folk. And he seemed to focus on the teen's. Just as you said, most failed to answer correctly even back then.
One girl I remember had to be all of 19. She was asked, who is the father of our country?

Ronald Reagan.
