Scripture Of The Day - QUENCHING THE PHILISTINE SPIRIT

"And Goliath cursed David by his gods. The Philistine also said to David, "Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the sky and the beasts of the field." - 1 Samuel 18:43,44

Goliath first used fiery darts against David (his words of negativity), believing that the negativity alone would cause David to cower down! Yes, Goliath's negative words were meant to be a "first-blow" against David to weaken him so that Goliath could move in quickly for the kill!

For us today, a Philistine spirit might sound like this:

• You're too young (old) to be used of God.
• You haven't attended Bible college, so you're unqualified to lay hands on the sick and see them healed.
• You're not a good speaker.
• Your family was poor. How can you ever consider yourself blessed of God?
• You are not attractive, you're fat (skinny), or too short (tall).
• You are weak. Just take a good look at yourself. Is there anything about you of which you can really be proud?
• You failed. You sinned. God will never use you. God has abandoned you.
• Shame on you!

KNOWING AND UNDERSTANDING OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST

Did you notice that this spirit targets our significance? In other words, it targets our identity as a Christian: a blood-bought Believer, a child of the King, a son, and daughter of God.
Satan desires for each of us to get stuck in cycles of feeling "insignificant." The dictionary describes insignificance as being unimportant and having no purpose in life. However, when we don't know our full identity in Christ, we remain in a continual search for significance. This is exactly what Goliath attempted to do with David...infiltrate his belief system concerning his identity and his relationship with God!
This search will remain on our wilderness wandering map unless we begin to rebuke the words (fiery darts and arrows) and begin to agree with what God says about us.

WE MUST POSSESS OUR PROMISED LAND

You are already victorious because of the Cross. Still, we must possess our Promised Land through AFFIRMING and MEDITATING the scriptures that have to do with our identity as born-again believers. Jesus paid the price for it – let's believe it and enter into it!

IT'S TIME FOR BREAKTHROUGH

Our true identity has been on the line – what do you believe about yourself? What do you believe about God? The truth must become established for breakthrough to occur. The fiery darts (Ephesians 6:16) are targeting our identity. The identity thief has a plan – to steal, kill, and destroy your future.

Let's exalt the Lord and declare His identity as "The Breaker"! Yes, He is the Breaker – the one who breaks forth on our behalf (see Micah 2:13). God is breaking forth for us. Jesus broke forth and gave us life by the shedding of His precious Blood. It's time for faith to arise once more. Raise up your shield of faith today! Lift up the name of Jesus – your shield!

Scripture of the Day - KNOWING JESUS

"They said to one another, 'Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?' And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those who were with them, saying, 'The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon.' They began to relate their experiences on the road and how He was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread" (Luke 24:32-35).

When we discover who Jesus is at one level, He will empower us to know Him in a deeper and more profound way. Our hearts are ignited to burn with a passionate love. The living, resurrected Word will manifest in flesh (our flesh) once again.

Jesus was the firstborn of many brethren. God knew Jesus was the prototype, the first of many sons and daughters to come. God had a divine plan from before time began. God knew us before He brought the world into existence. After we are saved, He gives us His PURPOSE for our life.

God fashions the lives of those who love Him to reflect Jesus' life and ministry on earth.
Every one of us mirrors a diverse form and reflects a different aspect of Jesus. God orchestrates everything to bring forth His love and PURPOSE in our life. God is faithful to establish us in our CALLING, to build us until we are transformed into His image. We see who we are destined to become in glory when we see Jesus (see Romans 8:28-30).

As we mature in Christ we take on His form. We look more like the God we love. None of us look the same as we did ten years ago. If we are not continually changing, then we are stagnant. Remember, we are destined to know Him from glory to glory.

Scripture Of The Day - PRIDE OF LIFE

1 Corinthians 1:31 -- "As it says in the scriptures, 'If anyone is going to boast, let him boast only of what the Lord has done.'"

If someone were to ask us, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" we would probably tell him, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved."

A rich young ruler asked Jesus the same question but instead of telling the man to believe in Him, Jesus gave him the law (Mark 10:17-22).

CONSCIOUSNESS OF LIVING BY THE LAW

Jesus saw that the young ruler lived his life taking PRIDE in his ability to keep the law to earn salvation and the favor of God. But because of His love for the man, Jesus had to show him that those who live by the law must realize that their self-efforts cannot save them.

So Jesus had to tell him, "One thing you lack....sell whatever you have and give to the poor... and come... and follow Me." When the young ruler heard that, he walked away sorrowful.

BOASTING ONLY IN JESUS

When we boast of having kept the law, it will always point out something we lack or have failed to obey. The law is so holy and perfect that if we don't keep even one small part of it, it has no choice but to judge and curse us. (Galatians 3:10). That is what the law was designed to do.

Let's boast only in Jesus' finished work on the cross -- that He is our strength, health, favor, prosperity, wisdom, hope, salvation, and glory. That is how we will see ourselves enjoying our inheritance of abundant life!

KNOWLEDGE VS. REVELATION

Matthew 16:6 -- "Watch out! Jesus warned them. 'Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.'"

Ephesians 1:17 -- "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him."

The Pharisees emphasized knowledge over revelation and their blatant disregard for God's voice. Of all the people that Jesus encountered, His harshest statements were toward the Pharisees and Sadducees. He called them "dead tombs" and a "brood of vipers"? They were more interested in asking provocative questions and they tried to justify themselves with their own so-called "knowledge" of the Old Testament. And because of their spiritual ignorance, they missed out on the most important move of God in history -- the Messiah. They proved out the Scripture that says, "Where there is no vision (no redemptive revelation of God), the people perish." (Proverbs 28:18).

MOVING TO A DIFFERENT SPIRITUAL POSTURE

God wants to move us from living a life full of head knowledge (Greek - Gnosis) into His understanding and His revelation (Greek - Epignosis). That takes us moving into a different spiritual posture. We have to start listening to what the Holy Spirit is saying, waiting on Him and His revelation, and start walking that out instead of being satisfied with just knowing about it.

We need the reality of scripture working in our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. That's the difference between knowledge and revelation. One HAS, the other DOES.

God is giving us the best occasion of all: to work with the very Bread of Life and participate in what God is cooking. One of His requirements is just that we leave our leaven behind and follow His directions.

AFFIRMATIONS:

I ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to me the mysteries that are locked in scripture.

I hunger for and receive revelation as part of my everyday life.

I seek on-going, life-changing revelation from God.

On-going revelation and encounters with the power of God launch me into understanding of things I've never understood before.

I must have my own revelation from the Father of who Jesus is. I refuse to settle for a shallow mental understanding of Him.

Scripture Of The Day - PRESSING IN SPIRITUALLY FOR THE VICTORY

"Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." - Ephesians 6:17

We start out in simple faith, trusting Him regardless of the circumstances. Then God makes a way when there is no way. We possess our promised land (see Joshua 6:1-5) with step by step obedience.
When you come up against your spiritual Jerichos, you've got to have the Word of God in your heart. Without it, marching around Jericho won't do any good. But with the Word in your heart in your mouth, you can march around impossible barriers declaring God's Word. Those walls have to come down.

VICTORY DECLARATIONS:
In all things, I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ who loves me. - Romans 8:37

God always promises me the victory in every circumstance. - 1 Corinthians 15:57

Thanks be to God who always causes me to triumph in Christ. - 2 Corinthians 2:14

I take possession of what belongs to me in Christ.

Scripture Of The Day - LEAN ON ME

Song of Solomon 8:5 -- "Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved?"

In order to learn new ways to walk we must first learn to lean.

Proverbs 3:6 -- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight."

Leaning on our Beloved often requires us to lean away from our own understanding. His ways are not our ways, nor are His thoughts our thoughts. This often leaves us with a lack of understanding. When leaning and depending on God for direction, more often than not He will ask us to do things and go places that make no sense to our natural ways of thinking. And when we begin to obey His leading, the "leaning" will become even more essential.

Intimacy and dependency are vital for receiving knowledge and revelation about how to walk and where to go -- as well as the timing of each step.

STEPPING OUT OF BONDAGE INTO TRUTH

Psalm 25:4,5 -- "Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; build me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long."

As we allow the Holy Spirit to show us every lie that had held us in bondage, we allow Him to exchange them for the truth that will set us free. The accuser had been shouting accusations at God and His people, but we need to know how to quiet our hearts in order to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit that will lead us into all truth.

DREAM BIG -- EXPECT LARGE

Ephesians 3:20,21 --" Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever!"

It is time to live like those who know that HE IS ABLE!

"Go possess the land." (Numbers 13:30).
We need to quit limiting our expectations and "dream big" -- advancement to our DESTINY depends on it.

God may ask us to do something that would exceed what we would ask for or even imagine. He may give us something that is more than we imagined, but we must be willing to hear and obey even when it makes no sense.

AFFIRMATION:

I imagine big and then learn to follow His lead as I lean.

Scripture Of The Day - PREDESTINED FOR GLORY

Romans 8:28 - "We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."

Why is it that all things work together for good?

Romans 8:29,30 - "For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these who He justified, He also glorified."

Those who He "foreknew" He also predestined for glory. That's why all things work together for good, because God created us with the end in mind.
God starts from the end and works backward. He has looked at the finished product of His finest creation and said, "You are awesome!"

Ephesians 1:4 - "He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love."

That is why Romans says, "Whom He foreknew." God knew what we would be and do before we were ever conceived. He didn't make our choices for us, but He knew what they would be because in His world they have already happened. He knew that we would choose Him, so He chose us first. He knows us so well that He knew to choose us before we even knew whether or not we would choose Him!

Ephesians 1:18 - "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints."

Hebrews 2:10 says that Jesus died to bring many sons to glory.
We know that we have an incredible inheritance in God, but do we realize that we are His glorious inheritance?
He loves us so much that we are to become His glorious inheritance. By choosing us first, He gave us the inheritance of greatness.

Scripture Of The Day - CALLED TO LIVE OUT OUR DESTINY IN CHRIST

Psalm 91:1 -- "He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High God, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."

There is a secret place inside us where God dwells. When we abide with Him in the Spirit in that secret place, we will experience the evidence of His presence with us.

We have the greatest calling to fulfill in the universe: to live out our DESTINY in Christ with God's power living and working through us.

The secret place is not a physical place like it was in Samuel's day. Our secret place is in our own hearts. We can go anywhere and still focus on Him in our spirit and be in the secret place of the Most High. We might be at work, yet we can enter into the presence of the Lord by simply going to the quiet place in our spirit and find Him there waiting for us. It is in this place where the Lord speaks and we listen. In the secret place is where we will find God's purpose (DESTINY) for our life.

EXPRESSION OF OUR LOVE FOR OTHERS

1 Samuel 3:7 -- "Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him."

Samuel had never heard God until he spent time in His presence. They developed a relationship with each other. Samuel became one with God; they became friends. As we develop friendship with God, then He can show us how to love others. As we are first filled with the power to truly love others by loving Him and by receiving His love for us we will come to realize our need to DISCIPLE other believers.
This only comes through our communion with Christ.
We need to hear the voice of the Lord! We need to hear His voice now more distinctly than ever before, because we need a personal revelation of our DESTINYin Christ.
Eli had gotten used to residing in his "usual place" in the house of God. We too can get too used to our relationship with God the way it is. But God wants us to come out away from our "usual place" and seek Him afresh and anew -- to turn from all else and seek only Him. He wants to show His love for us in a new way.

Scripture Of The Day - GOING THROUGH TRANSITION

"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." - Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV)

When you go through transition, as Jesus did when going from the Jordan (baptism) to being drawn into the wilderness by the Spirit, it is a very vulnerable time and it is the time to fast and pray and build yourself up in the Word, so when the enemy says, "Did God say...?" you will have the ammunition to counteract the temptation that he brings during this time of testing.

God allows and even draws us into the test during transition so that we will be positioned to a higher level in Him; but the enemy tempts us in this test to give up on God and go through the wrong doors and thus put off our destiny for a season -- so we must watch and pray during this time and speak God's Word only!

Scripture Of The Day - A TIME FOR EXTRAVAGANT ADORATION

John 11: - 30-21 30 Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who had been with Mary in the house, comforting her, noticed how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there. 32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

The speed of her going to Jesus was so rapid that the Jews who had been with her followed her, expecting her to run in her grief to the tomb (John 11:32). But Mary didn't run to the tomb, she ran to the One who is Resurrection and Life and she fell at His feet and said, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died" (verse 32).

What did Mary mean? She was acknowledging Christ as Healer, but it would seem she failed to fully comprehend that He could raise Lazarus back to life. Jesus was deeply moved by Mary's grief and those of the other mourners, too. There was no reproof or rejection, only the all-encompassing love of God expressed in Christ. Jesus wept with the brokenhearted and then proceeded to call Lazarus back to life. Envision the moment and rejoice, for we too will know this reality at the end of the Age when we are raised to eternal life in Christ.

In the meantime, let us also celebrate that God has personally called each one of us and meets us in every detail of our lives. He has an eternal plan and purpose for each of us, and Christ alone commands our destinies. Hallelujah!

Scripture Of The Day - CHOOSING THE GOOD PORTION

"You are anxious and worried about a multitude of things; and yet only one thing is needful. Mary has chosen the good portion and she shall not be deprived of it." - Luke 10:41-42

While Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus, Martha protested that she was not helping to prepare a meal for Jesus. Jesus responded to Martha in the above scripture.

We should focus our lives on the single fact that the Lord has something specific in mind for us. Just as Mary sat at His feet in anticipation, we are to wait upon Jesus for the outworking of the circumstances that will advance His purpose for our life.

"Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." - Matthew 18:3

We must recognize that we cannot fulfill the Lord's will with our own ability, and then acknowledge our insufficiency to Him.

"One thing is needful, and Mary has chosen the good portion." We must forget the past, both our successes and failures, and choose the good portion. This means that we are to make an effort to spend increasing time in His presence. In faith and expectancy, make room for Jesus to bring into your life circumstance all that He has for you to advance His calling on your life and then obediently cooperate with whatever He may do.

Scripture Of The Day - MAKING KNOWN THE MYSTERY

"Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him." - Mark 11:23

As you battle against an ungodly problem (ungodly situations could be a lingering sickness, infirmity, sin, fear, doubt, unbelief, anger, poverty, disunity, etc. Anything in your life that is contrary to the Word of God) in your life, why not get really involved and roar at it?

Get emotionally passionate! Get loud! Get intense! Get involved! Even get angry! And since it is the Lord of hosts joining with you in doing the battle, you might just as well see this with the eyes of your heart. It is Almighty God standing there with you roaring at this problem, and commanding it to be gone NOW! See Jesus in you, as the Lion of Judah, and roaring at the problem, commanding it to be gone now!

"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." - Colossians 1:27ZZ - 284.jpg

Scripture Of The Day - EXPECTING GOD-EMPOWERED BOLDNESS

"that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, that the Christ may dwell, through faith, in your hearts, being rooted and founded in love, - Ephesians 3:16,17

As believers we are rooted and grounded in His magnificent love (Ephesians 3:17). We have courage, the depth of which is confidence in the Lord. Today we declare that we will "Trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not unto our own understanding; in all our ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct our path." - Proverbs 3:5,6

Holy perseverance is God-empowered boldness and courage that enables us -- deep within -- to persevere. One way to define perseverance is simply to "stay the course." This is a powerful blessing from the Lord that enables us to believe the impossible is possible. It is a work of the Holy Spirit within that enables us to have strength to stay the course, regardless of present circumstances or situations. This is what the prophet Isaiah wrote about:

"Fear not (there is nothing to fear), for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My (victorious) right hand of rightness and justice...Isaiah 41:10 AMP

In this passage, the Lord promises to be with us, to strengthen us, to keep us, and to hold us in a place of victory. The Hebrew meaning of the word strengthen is "to be strong, alert, courageous, brave, stout, bold, solid, hard."

You can stay the course because of the enabling of the strength of the Lord for you and in you! EXPECT the Holy Spirit to release an even greater strengthening deep within so that you will stand firm for the promises of the Lord for your life, your CALLING in Christ, and your family.

As you lean into the Lord -- go from strength to strength with deep courage to believe for the impossible to be possible.

Scripture Of The Day - GOD IS FAITHFUL THROUGH TIMES OF CHANGE

"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline." - 1 Timothy 1:7

In order to see a change we must be willing to be part of the change. That means:

becoming uncomfortable in our comfort zones so that God can propel us into catalytic faith action;

it means being willing to not only mix with but also move with others we may not know well whom God will place in our paths;

it means taking faith "risks" that are investments in trusting God for the unknown even when that is contrary to our present experience;

it means being obedient to simple instructions from the Lord without necessarily having the "five-year plan" and knowing details in advance.

Above all, it is about trusting God to enlarge our capacity to hear and respond in faith, decisively, humbly, and with His great love for mankind.

May God enable us to be Kingdom agents of change by His grace as we learn to surrender ongoingly to His will and to continue to follow the direction of the Holy Spirit.

"For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." - Isaiah 41:13

"being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." - Philippians 1:6

Scripture Of The Day - Time To Arise

"So may all Your enemies perish, Lord! But may all who love You be like the sun when it rises in its strength..." - Judges 5:31

There is a rising coming for the Body of Christ – a rising within Him, in His ways and in His love to be free in Christ. We are rising up in the glory of the Son. A "rising" can also mean a revolution or revolt – it is time to rise up and push back the powers of darkness trying to encroach and violate our lives!

We are being called to rise up and take our places in history; to rise up and seize the day. We are being called to rise to the occasion for which we were created (God's PURPOSE for our life). Rise to believe that you can overcome, because much greater is He that lives in you – the One who has overcome the world – than the one who is under your feet! The force that is holding the world together lives inside of us! With the grasping of this truth comes the revelation that nothing is or can be impossible to those who believe in Him.

AFTER DEATH COMES RESURRECTION

There are a people hearing the sound and they are rising, coming out of graves where strongholds and circumstances have kept them bound. The cry of the Lord can be heard -- "Be loosed and arise to life, to the upward call in Christ." Come out of the crucible of fire and be prepared as an agent of transformation.

You are a container of God's glory, carrying the treasures, goods, and supplies of the Kingdom to a parched Earth. You are an exceptional vessel, with a specialized call and a matchless container God has fashioned just for you. Let your light shine, let your container fulfill its call in preparing the highway for our God!

"Listen! It's the voice of someone shouting, 'Clear the way through the wilderness for the LORD! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!'" - Isaiah 40:3 NLT

Scripture Of The Day - LIVING LIKE JESUS

"Let it be according to your Word" (Luke 1:38).

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among men and brought with Him the fullness of the Father's prosperity.

True prosperity is not the accumulation of wealth; it is health, joy, peace and all nine fruit of the spirit. Peace is a victory that overcomes the world (Galatians 5:22-23).

The Father sent His sperm seed (1 Peter 1:23) with the wisdom of all the ages in it, to impregnate a young virgin and she would bring forth the God-man child. At this time the fullness of God's prosperity was given to mankind. From the very moment of His conception, the process of reconciliation began between mankind and the Father. Therefore every born again child of God can prosper in all seven aspects (spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, socially, and financially) of their life.

God is trying to bring His people to a place where they learn how to live from heaven towards earth. The reason is that His heart is for heaven to exist on earth. The desire to go to heaven can never cancel out His command to us to bring heaven to earth.

When Jesus sent the disciples out He said, "Freely (without pay) you have received, freely (without charge) give" (Matthew 10:8b). He did not send them out to get but to GIVE. Near the end of Jesus' ministry He checked with the disciples about their experience when He sent them out.
"And He said to them, When I sent you out with no purse or [provision] bag or sandals, did you lack anything? They answered, Nothing!" - Luke 22:35
They did not travel with luggage or money yet they lacked nothing. They GAVE freely out what Jesus had imparted to them.

It's important to see that we can live in that same place of abundant prosperity.

Scripture Of The Day - Becoming a Throne of Honor and Glory

Isaiah 22:23 - "And I will fasten him like a peg or nail in a firm place; and he will become a throne of honor and glory to his father's house."

This person will become a "supernatural gateway" or a "throne" of God for all of Heaven to flow through. According to Isaiah, we literally become a throne that the Lord Jesus Christ can rest upon to reveal His Kingdom of power and glory! Psalm 22:3 says: "God is enthroned upon (lives within, dwells in) the praises of His people." What does that look like?

When we begin to praise God the Scriptures say that His throne and His presence are literally built upon us and come to rest on top of our praises. So, wherever the high praises of God are found, the throne of God will rest. Wherever the throne of God is, the King is -- there are angels and all of the resources of the government are present in reality.

When we are connected with Heaven, we literally become a gateway for the supernatural to manifest in and around us. Heaven moves up and down upon us, releasing signs, wonders, and miracles with our cooperation.

Jesus said, "For behold, the Kingdom of God is within you, and among you, surrounding you." - Luke 17:21
