There's a lot to get out of it I think. But here are a few that I can think of right now. Danial and his three friends showed a great amount of trust in God, as well as dedication to commit to His will. Danial in my opinion is an example we should follow for how to be.

Even in exile under a ruler who did not believe in God, and who took your home and your people. Even then Danial followed what Jesus would later teach about to obey your rulers. It seemed as though Danial showed love and concern for those he served too. A humble and dedicated servant.

Then there are the lessons from the kings in Danial. One king said he was a God, and God humbled him. Then his son who became king next, much have seen or known enough to respect God. But instead during a party he brings out the plundered items of Israel's temple, and make a show of his power and wealth. God tgat day sent a message written on a wall that prophesied his kingdom and his life would end that very night. From these lessons we should know to respect God. As in the LORD's prayer, asking for God's name to be honored; we should honor God and all that comes from Him. Don't take it lightly or take credit for it, but resit our pride.

The third things to take away from Danial are the dreams and the prophesies. From the ones that already came true, to the ones we wait and watch for with the end times. They show that the book of Danial is reliable and also gives prophesy for times to come.

I can't find the like button, but I do like the answer

I believe the book of Daniel is the key to unlocking the symbolism to Revelation and complements the Lord's end-time verbal dissertation in places like Matthew 24-25. My favorite theologian to the left there <-- Sir Isaac Newton was a bible scholar second to none in his days, but he spent a lot of time in the book of Daniel and Revelation as he was interested in prophecy.

What the book of Daniel is NOT, is a book about some future anti-Christ.

(It only seems that way when you don't truly know Christ)

I would agree that Daniel is key in unlocking Revelation, as is the book of Deuteronomy, and Zechariah. But Daniel itself is a book that is sealed. Seal up the vision.... But how can one use Daniel to be a key to unlock Revelation when Daniel requires a key to open it?

If your looking for a key, then start with the little horn. When you find the Horn of David, you will have found your key.

What is the key of David?

What is the key of David?

And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

Well, we can be certain of one thing:

1) It's sealed until the end
2) Some fortunate souls will understand it.

As for the horn/key of David, the horn is symbolic of power, and the key is also explained in Isaiah 22, not just Revelation. But from your wording, you are equating the little horn with the horn of David, or am I misunderstanding you?

So what do you think we are all supposed to get out of reading the book of Daniel?

Thanks.
Daniels account of his life with the word of God in his heart is the living testimony, reckoned for all time in the canon, that the scripture in Philippians 4:13 promises. Daniel proved he could do all things through God who strengthened him to endure the adversaries of truth.

No, you are not misunderstanding me.

Winnie, this may help you. I love Bible study sites that break down a book of the Bible and explain the meaning, and so that we understand the interconnectedness of the old testament that is the foundation for the new covenant. And the faith and the gifts of the spirit that arrive under the new covenant and due to the promises and foretelling of the old.
Daniel remember was a prophet.
Book of Daniel Explained

Are you new to Bible study? If so, what a wonderful journey you're on. :) God's mercies be with you as his spirit guides you into all truth.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Daniel
God showed Himself Holy as the curses of the law were fulfilled
God showed His faithfulness to His promises as God lead Israel back to their own land
When Daniel prayed God showed Him the distant future and even the resurrection with a kingdom that can never be destroyed- the final outcome
Even though Israel went into exile God was with the righteous as in Daniel and His companions.

Despite Israel's sins Gods faithfulness is a strong theme in Daniel.
