Hello everyone. I wanted to apologize to anyone if I had caused any incovenience the past few days by going post crazy. I appreciate everyone who enjoys my presence here at the forums, but I feel that I cannot be myself in the ways I would like to be. I will give it some thought and try and determine if CF is the place for me or not. I am not posting this to make people feel sorry for me, but I need to do some re-thinking. I need to find a way to participate at forums and post quality threads insteasd of silly ones all of the time. I am asking that you will pray for me.

The following is a portion of a PM I sent one of the moderator's but I will not list that person's name. I just wanted to share it with you all so you can get another perspective about my life and posting habits.

I can be a better person around here, but I also want to feel like I can be myself. If I can't be myself, I would rather not be here. Of course, that doesn't excuse me going post crazy, but I want to be able to be myself around here. Like I said, I can be very serious and you said you have seen my serious side. I like to be serious but I also like to have a good time. I have been to many forums and they all operate differently. However, most of them can't stand humor or silliness. I think there is a time to be serious and a time to be silly. The reason why I am silly a lot of because that is just who I am. My friends who know me well like me for being myself. There are times when I get either serious or really quiet around my friends, and they ask me if I am okay. In other words, if I am not being goofy, they think something is wrong.

I will do my part and tone down the number of silly threads. I also ask that everyone else will do their part and not pick on me if I post a silly thread here and there. I can understand people getting upset when my posts become obsessive, but I feel I should be able to post some silly stuff once in a while. Some of my "silly" posts are actually serious, though. If I ever post a topic that appears to be silly on the surface, I will try and explain that in the thread so that people can tell the difference between my nonsense posts and my serious ones.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused. I do get defensive sometimes when I feel threatened in any way. It is mostly just a reaction because I have been picked on so much in the past, it just is natural that I react sometimes. I will say that when GojuBrian started posting a bunch of silly threads in the men's locker room the other day, I began to realize how annoying they can be.

Thanks for putting up with me, I know I am not the easiest person to deal with at times.

God Bless!

Dave

Well, I've already said this a hundred times, but your posts don't bother me personally in the slightest. But I realize sometimes other people might get annoyed at them. So with respect to them, why don't you just post the silly questions in the Humor thread and the serious ones in their appropriate threads? Then everybody will be happy! :yes

But I would really, seriously be sad if you left this forum. As someone else said, it wouldn't be the same around here without you. :crying

I don't think I will be leaving, I am just still thinking about everything is all. I think posting the silly stuff in the humor part of the forum is a good idea, but I don't want to overload that forum either.

Dave let me tell you something dude, all your life, you are going to run into people who don't like you or who will not agree with you. And if you continue to live and not be confined to a bed, or something, you are going to get your fair share. Remember not everyone is going to like you, even some Christians. Christians can be just as flawed as secular people. So hold your head up. If you live people will continue to hurt your feelings, and sometimes it is hard to get over it. But when that happens always try to bounce back, even though that can be very hard and sometimes it takes time.

Amen to that Lewis!

Dave, I'm almost as silly as you and some people take that the wrong way too. I've been called immature,etc...right on down the line. From my perspective, these are the people that have growing up to do. I wrestle with my kids and my dogs, I play tag, darts, and all sorts of stuff with my kids, but they know I'm their daddy and what I say goes. We really can have it both ways.

Be yourself Dave!!! :)

I like you for you, Dave, and yes, be yourself. I understand why some people may find your posts annoying, but I like them, and the world does need some humour.

I can agree with that--assuming he knows the difference. Like me, Dave, you don't handle criticism well. I dislike being criticized and usually get upset over it.

And Dave, you do the same thing wherever you go and get the same response from people. Remember the Web site that gave you your own forum to stop you from bombarding the entire Web site with your silly posts? They didn't like it there either.

Some like your posts (I like some of them) and some don't. There's nothing wrong with "being yourself", but if that self is offending some of the brethren, then maybe you need to question if a change is in order. If I'm alone on this (from what I've read I probably am), then maybe I'm the one who needs to change.

However, I agree that the silly and nonsense posts should be in one forum and not scattered throughout the forums so that we can't get away from them. If, as I said, I'm alone on this, and the people prefer your posts over mine, then I will just quietly leave again and not return as I did. Then everyone can enjoy you to their heart's content.

I enjoy clean humor and a little silliness also, but a little bit goes a long way. Too much of a good thing (like sweets) gets a bit too sickening after a while. It could be that I'm just TOO serious, but I come into Christian forums to discuss the Bible and Christian living and not to read a mountain of silly nonsense all the time.

A while back we had a member who posted links. Not linking to silliness, many of the links were to important news or informative websites. No problem in posting links. The problem was that he would create post after post after post after post with these links. Depending upon the topic, sometimes I would follow a link. Most of the time I didn't, after all no one is forced to read a post if they didn't want to.

The thing was that he had so many posts to all these links that it was really hard to find the topics that I was interested in following. Sometimes he would post as many as 15 different posts which pushed all other topics way down or even off the front page. It did become annoying because we all want to share and read what others have to say and if, when we log into General Talk or Current Events or whatever and find almost the entire page filled with posts from one person, then it does impact the entire board. Think about what it might be like for a new person who is searching for a internet fellowship forum: They come, check out general talk and find the forum overwhelmingly dominated by silly posts, they move on. Something to think about.

Again, no one is forced to read anyone's posts. If a person is truly annoying to one, there is the "foe" feature which will block that person's posts from even being viewed.

Just be mindful of the fact that it's not good for any one person to dominate any particular forum with too many posts. If we all keep in mind that, humor is good, so is serious discussion and that most come here to have conversation with a Christian emphasis, and then there shouldn't be a problem.

My :twocents

Dave, I think all of this hub-bub would certainly go away if you posted silly topics in the humor forum and serious questions in the other forums. I think you do raise some intruiging questions, and the conversations that follow are certainly interesting. The reason why I keep coming back to these forums is because I find it interesting to see how other people think about different issues - and I think it is beneficial for the body of Christ to be united on the important things and tolerant on the not-so-important things. I realize that other people like to use the forums for silliness, and that's great. Knock yourself out, brother. I hope my topic earlier in the week did not offend you or make you think your opinions are not wanted.

Thank you, but it wasn't really my idea. I was repeating what I'd read in other posts. :yes
