Look around on this forum. Look at all the debates and arguements, and disagreements. Noone ever wins. Every debate, nothing is different at the end except a lot of people say stuff and their opinion. Thats it. Whats the point to it? Noone wins noone loses. Everyones opinoins the same at the end as at the beginning.

The point in arguments and debates is to speak your mind or beliefs. With debates, you're trying to prove WHY you believe what you do. No harm there.

Arguments...arguments are healthy in my opinion. It gives you a chance to speak your mind. Get things off your chest! I've never known a single person in my life that was happy ALL THE TIME. That's just not natural.

Arguments also don't last forever. Also, arguments usually result in an "I'm sorry" somewhere down the line. If not, then oh well...move on. It's not the worst thing that could happen.

People have said "Christians shouldn't be bickering like they are doing". Well, I think that's a silly comment to make. Christians are human! It's not a law that we have to be hunkey-dory all the time. We're just supposed to have God as our savior and try to do as he wishes. We're supposed to spread God's word. We're supposed to love one another...even the sinners. That doesn't mean we can't disagree with one another. That doesn't mean we can't get angry every once in a while. Just because I'm mad at someone doesn't mean that I don't still love them. I may not LIKE them at the time, but I know that I still love them deep down.

My sister was a very rebellious teen growing up...running away, drinking, etc. My mom said many times that she hated my sister, but loved her at the same time.

That IS possible. I've hated my husband many times, but also loved him at the same time. I think that's what makes us able to continue to move on in life. God gives us the ability to still love someone no matter how much we may dislike them or their ways.

S, the debates and arguments are OK. Sure, there are better things we could all do with our time, but we're not being terrible people by debating and arguing. We're just being NORMAL!

People are so different. Raised differently, seeing life a little differently, each person's place of compassion can be radically different. But if we eliminate all arguing, then nobody will say that much and we might as well scrap the message board.
If people argue, they just need to be respectful of the other in the process.

Remember, Paul argued with the Jews in the Temples and synagogues.

I might express an opinion in one or two posts for fun, but if I get heavily involved in a long debate, it's to educate someone who has been misinformed about something. They don't have to believe me, but at least they won't be able to claim that they didn't know.

We argue to show our opinion and show our support for our opinions. Partly as a way to persuade people and partly to sharpen our rational for beliefs and assumptions.
What an argument is, is thus:
An argument isn't just contradiction.
Well, can be.
No, it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
No it isn't!
Yes it is! It isn't just contradiction.
Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
Yes, but it isn't just saying 'no it isn't.'
Yes it is!
No it isn't!

hehe, loves those guys. Do you know about the album they had in the 70's that had no b-side, but had two lead-in grooves? One groove played side one and the other side two. Ingenious! 8)
