"One Heartbeat Away"

My Lord, for as long as I live
I will bow down before You
For as long as I have breath
I will worship and adore You

For as long as I am on this earth
I will testify of Your faithfulness
You saved me by Your sacrifice
You justified me in righteousness

I think of the future; what will be
And I lift up Your Name in praise
Just a stone's throw from eternity
Just one heartbeat away, always

Romans 5:1-2 (NASB)
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Hi Ms Dee! maybe you should set the words to music, if you haven't already... :)

Blessings.

"Today Is The Day"

No matter what your circumstance
How you feel or what you've done
You can find mercy and forgiveness
Through Jesus Christ, God's Only Son

Each moment presents an opportunity
To receive His salvation; to turn to Him
Come now to the Savior, just as you are
He'll forgive you; cleanse you of your sin

A new life awaits you; a Heavenly destiny
Don't let the voices of darkness interfere
Bring all you are to the foot of the Cross
Today is the day that redemption is here

Isaiah 53:6 (NASB)
6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.

Have you studied creative writing, Ms Dee? Blessings.

Took a couple classes in college, but always have had a love for writing. The poetry gift I really didn't discover until I came back to Christ.

"This Side of Heaven"

On this side of Heaven
There is sorrow and loss
Trials designed to refine
Fire to burn off the dross

Works in progress we are
Mortal vessels, jars of clay
The Master Potter shapes us
Molds our lives day by day

Draws us to Him as we pray
He works it all for our good
Chastens us when we stray
As a loving Father should

Helps us through our pain
Even when we cannot see
Light at the tunnel’s end
With us He will always be

I Peter 1:6-7 (NASB)6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ

Ms Dee:

'Jars of Clay': do you know the Christian band, 'Jars of Clay'?

Blessings.

Took a couple classes in college, but always have had a love for writing. The poetry gift I really didn't discover until I came back to Christ.

Sometimes it takes a period in the world followed by a work of the Spirit in our lives to bring us to fulfilling our gifts.

Blessings.

“Forever In My Heart”

Neither the sum of my thoughts, nor all the words that I write
Can capture what will seize my heart when faith is made sight
The Gospel of Christ compels me; I am brought closer to Him
A sanctifying, holy fire; a kindled flame burns brightly within

Empowered through His Truth; driven to my knees in prayer
He alone is worthy; I am not; He keeps me in His divine care
He and I; Jesus and me; for this day, for eternity; never apart
Not I, but He; not my life, but His; first, forever in my heart

Psalms 116:1-2 (NASB) 1
I love the LORD, because He hears My voice and my supplications. 2 Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.

I John 3:2 (NASB)
Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.

“Thankfulness”

Come, let us worship the Lamb
Hearts fixed upon things above
Let us glorify the Great “I Am”
Encourage one another in love

One in Christ, together always
Sons and daughters of the King
Let us raise our voices in praise
Goodness of His grace we sing

Let us serve Him with gladness
Jesus redeemed us for eternity
Let us our thankfulness express
Salvation’s joy so others may see

I Thessalonians 5:11 (NASB) Therefore encourage one another and build up one another

“Complete in Christ"

We have been made complete in Christ
In the power of His might, we live this life
We have access to the Father through Him
He redeemed us; cleansed us from our sin

He prays for us; Our Perfect High Priest
In Him, we have contentment and peace
No better Friend could we expect to find
He is faithful, gracious, loving, and kind

Trials test us; these are our opportunities
To seek His help in prayer on our knees
To anchor ourselves in Him lest we fall
To depend on our Lord; Our All in All

Colossians 2:9-10 (NASB)
9 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
10 and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority

"He Is Your Destiny"

He is your Redeemer; Your Forever Friend
His love, mercy, and grace will never end
He is mighty and invincible in His power
Eternal Lord and King; Shelter and Tower

Dependence upon Jesus makes you strong
His Word sustains and carries you along
Prayer is your source of peace and hope
Brings you through; enables you to cope

Remember all that He has done for you
He has forgiven you and made you new
His Truth is like a mirror; in it you see
Your Savior's Face; He is your destiny

Psalms 37:39-40 (NASB)
39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in time of trouble.
40 The LORD helps them and delivers them; He delivers them from the wicked and saves them, Because they take refuge in Him.

So Ms Dee are you writing these now? or did you write them mostly a while ago?

Blessings.

some were written awhile back; I'm still writing new ones (though not as much nowadays). Inspiration comes and goes; it's a funny thing..

“No Sting in Death”

Down the corridors, in rooms of my mind
I display the gems from God’s Truth I find
Though relics of my past still line the halls
Regrets, featured reminders on those walls
These useless things must be thrown away
They aren’t part of the new life I live today
Once lost in darkness, then His Light came
Understanding and peace like a healing rain
He saved me, and then the dark forces railed
For He once again over their plans prevailed
A great war ensued; spiritual battle I can’t see
With His Word I learn to defend myself daily
This fight won’t end until I take my last breath
He's Lord; in Jesus there's no sting in death

I Corinthians 15:56-57 (NASB)
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;
57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

“He Is Strong”

My thoughts dwell upon God
In Him my heart finds peace
His Word is rest for my soul
Anxieties immediately cease

Gratefully I receive His grace
His strength carries me along
To the finish I will run this race
For I am weak, yet He is strong

Isaiah 26:3 (NASB)
The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.

This is also a great verse from Isaiah 26.

“They Will Soar”

God’s people pray; continual, unceasing
Tenacious in faith; confidently believing
Earthquakes, wars; catastrophes increase
In Him, all their fears immediately cease

He is their Protector; they belong to Him
In Him, they have power to overcome sin
Saints in Light; slaves to iniquity no more
In His strength, like eagles they will soar

Isaiah 40:28-31 (NASB)
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable.
29 He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power.
30 Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly,
31 Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
