Although they lost, Penn State did get to play in a Super Bowl. Now, my dream is to see the Philadelphia Eagles win the World Series.

That would have been possible were Norm Snead still the quarterback.

Okay, let's try this scenario:

The Detroit Lions fire their entire team and replace them with members of the Penn State football team, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Kansas State Jayhawks. Charlie Weiss is hired as coach.

Would the ratings and ticket sales go up?

Yes, but first the NFL, Big Ten, and Big 12 would have to join and form a super conference.

The grumblings continue...

YOUR Detroit Lions are filthy with talent, and ready to take that step into Superbowlism. Let the love endow! Let 2012 happen! It IS the year that the Lions will forever establish themselves as a formidable foe. Wake up, NFL!! Here are your Lions!!

Four days until YOUR Detroit Lions start the 2012 campaign against the Rams. Admittedly, the defense will be a weakness this year, but the offense will be setting records. Leshoure will join the team in week 3 to balance the air attack with a moderate running threat. At minimum, he'll be someone for the defenses to pay attention to, but he might turn out to be a serious talent. If that happens, fuggetaboutit! They will destroy defenses!

You can chalk this one against the Rams in the win column. In fact, you can etch it in stone. This will be a good start to a great year!!

The Lions are getting off to a slow start. Maybe we could find some way to prevent their opponents from getting to the games, so that the Lions could win a few by forfeit.

Indeed, these are sad days for the Lions. I'm starting to doubt Stafford will ever come around. For no apparent reason, the team is completely inept and have taken a huge step back this season. Of all things, their defense is the only aspect of their team that's keeping them in games. :gah

Well, you've got a one-game winning streak and my Cardinals have a two-game losing streak.

As the story goes, the Detroit Lions went into 2012 with high expectations and finished the season 4-12 and so far out of the play-offs that when they looked up, they couldn't even see the ground.

Meanwhile, the Patriots roll on.....

And Mike, well, no one has seen much of Mike since.

Oh, Mike's been here. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Pats take their place at the top, and the Lions assure everyone that things are stable by taking their place in mediocrity. Shock of shock. Manning v Brady in the AFC Championship. :shrug
