Do you ever shop at Goodwill for your clothes?

I sure do. Goodwill, ARC (Association of Retarded Citizens), the Idaho Youth Ranch. Especially clothes for my still growing kids who tend to grow out of clothes quite quickly.

Think of it as recycling.

I never even heard of good will. I clothes shop at the Walmart and outfitters like Cabellas for my higher price/quality stuff.

I think Goodwill is pretty international, but just in case it isn't, Dave is talking about charity thrift stores. Stores that get their merchandise by people donating items to it. I always donate the clothes that my kids outgrow that are still in good condition, sometimes to thrift stores, sometimes to families.

We have a loveseat that sits in front of our fireplace that I got at the Idaho Youth Ranch, another thrift store. There are some very good bargains to be found. I do buy new clothes for my kids for birthday gifts and for school. But I can't afford to buy all their clothes new.

I buy stuff out of there, here in Philly we use the Salvation Army stores and private thrift stores, which there are many. many of them here.

My Mother and sister used to (may still?) shop there. They would find designer clothes, stuff you would buy in the mall for very cheap. Could not even tell it was bought from Goodwill. But, to answer your question...no, i have never shopped at Goodwill. :)

Every now and then I will peak in and see what they have. But since I moved in with Timothy, he and I have just donated like 6 or 7 trash bags full of clothes, so it would probably be redundant to go shopping there for a bit :lol

Oh yes! I love vintage stores. Sometimes the old Jewish ladies give some great designer names too!

:lol :lol I know what you mean. I gave some of my daughter's outgrown clothes to a neighbor and her daughter wore them awhile. About a year later, when we were at the Youth Ranch, my daughter came up with a dress and said, "Mom, wasn't this mine?" and yes, it sure had been. We laughed and put it back on the rack and I was glad that at least one other person would have the use of the dress, because it was as cute as can be and was still in wonderful condition.

I'm not a big "green" person, at least not in the sense of "saving the planet". But I do think that recycling clothes, that is donating them until they aren't wearable anymore is just good stewardship.

I've bought vintage clothes too, which I guess means that they are designer and in excellent condition, rather than just outdated or outgrown clothes. I bought this really beautiful sweater from the 1920's that was beaded with jet. When I became a bit more...shall we say "robust", I gave it to my niece. She often wears it with a silver skirt and looks beautiful in it.

I'm still growing and so I'm always donating huge trash bags full of clothes to Goodwill. I've tried going there once to get an article for my Halloween costume last year (I was Slash, the guitarist for Guns 'n' Roses), but I didn't find anything. My brother did find something for his Jimi Hendrix costume, though!

Otherwise, I don't really shop there. I don't get new clothes very often. My wardrobe is actually extremely limited seeing as I'm always growing out of clothes and never get new ones! :lol
