Isaiah 46:9 "Remember the former things of old: for I am El, and there is none else; I am Elohim, and there is none like me,
46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:" (Word Of Yahweh)

Isaiah 46:9 "Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me,
46:10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose," (ESV)

46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:" (KJV)

For many, many years now Satan has convinced well meaning Christians to discount the Old Testament as "out of date", not relevant, replaced by the New Testament. Well, that's not what our Heavenly Father says in Isaiah 46:9 & 10.

Hello Chopper
I read both and study both. There are many beautiful passages in the Old Testament. I have at times carried verses around with me that have helped me and encouraged me in many hard times. If things got too overwhelming I would take it out of my pocket and read it. Such comfort.

The Old Testament points forward to Jesus becoming flesh and the suffering He would go through. I didn't know that some Christians discount it.

The Old Testament has proof that Jesus is The Son of God. That makes the whole of it valid to me.

What would do without Genesis, Psalms, Proverbs and all the prophets? I can't imagine it.

I hear you, Sister! I'm starting to think that...standing on God's word and promises is not enough. We have to lay down in them and grasp them with both hands!

For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:9-10

Much of the New Testament is revealing principles of truth from the Old Testament.

Or do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives? For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man. Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God. Romans 7:1-4

Those who were once married to Him who gave them the law, were free to marry another, (when He was crucified and died and the law was nailed to the cross with Him) to Him who was raised from the dead.

Now being joined to Him as one spirit with Him, we can bear fruit to God, reproducing through the birth pangs of labor, children of righteousness.

But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17

I've read the entire Bible front to back three times now. it is clearly one testament. One book. God does not change. it is for us, the OT. So many shadows and examples for us to live by today.

I'm glad you brought up shadows and examples as the shadows are what leads us to Christ in the NT and the examples are that of God's greatest commandment of love as Christ is God's love given for all who will believe. I have heard some say we no longer need the OT, but without it we would never understand the need for Christ or His teachings. Jesus taught from the OT as God gave Him what to speak, John 12:49, 50.

Preachers that preach out of the New Testament only. :angry3

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

Is not knowledge given from Genesis to Revelation!!! How can one just simply throw away the OT and try to understand that of the NT as even Jesus taught from the Torah.

John 1:
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning (OT and the end (NT), the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

The risen Christ explained Himself to the disciples on the road to Emaus using the broad swath of the OT.
Christ answered Satan in the wilderness strictly using quotes of Deuteronomy, a book many Christians don't bother with.
Steven gave a lesson in history leading to the Christ from what is written in the ot.
My Friday night bible study just wrapped up 3 1/2 years in Genesis.
We have done other OT books.
I wouldn't put much stock in a pastor who didn't frequently get into the OT.

Like you, many learned men of Holy Writ, believe that in order to fully understand the New Testament, one must study the Old Testament.

Thank you Mr. Bull for your wise addition to this thread.
Thank You,
