I read a lot of post from people who seem to think doctrine doesn’t matter, or that doctrine is somehow extra-biblical, like the R.C. church and tradition. Paul tells us to study so lets do that. Lets look at the Bible as a whole and put all like-minded topics together and establish proper Biblical doctrine based on the Bible as a whole.

I suggest we take this forum, the Book Discussion forum and discuss the Bible. Lets, as a group, peel back the covers of our beloved Holy Book and find God's doctrines. After all doctrine matters.

Who's with me?

I would be willing, but I know that a lot of people here have different views on what is the correct Biblical doctrine and those type of discussions can tend to get out of control and people can exibit non-Christian like behavior.

If they do, I will cease from conversation.

And we all need to be openminded and use the Spirit and prayer, not our heads, which can be full of pride and deceit.

All that being said, I will join if the conversation is Christ-honoring and uplifting to our fellow Christians. We are here to edify, not tear down!

I already disagree with you brother! :biggrin The Bible doesn't say to pray about doctrine but to study...study the Word with the help of the Holy Spirit.

He He He.

What in particular would you like to start off discussing? How about this:

2 Timothy 2:16, 23-25
Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly...Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct...

Sounds great! I like it. But this is a discussion forum which means we will be discussing things. Another word found in the title of this forum is 'Book.' I find nothing godless about the Bible, nor do I think theology ' foolish' or having anything to do with 'stupid arguments.' If we were to talk about the gap theory and argue then I would have to agree with you on this point. The gap theory explains fossils well but the Bible doesn't contain much if any about it. That would be stupid to argue about. To speak of Jesus and what His death means, that would be a topic worthy of discussing. Lets not forget that Paul also said: "2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
