Does God require us to know the names of those we pray for? What if a friend asks you to pray for his family but you forget to ask names, or your friend doesn't tell you. Will God not listen to the prayers from us if we don't always know the person's name we are praying for? Would it be okay to pray "Lord, I lift up my friends family to you..."?

I believe it is good to know the names of those we pray for, but God also knows our heart. I believe God will know who we are praying for, even if we don't always know the names of those we are praying for.

It's not a requirement at all. Prayer is an act of reverence and obedience and not an obligation or merely a means of petitioning God. He knows or hearts, our thoughts and the needs and concerns of others as well. Our prayers are pleasing to Him, but not a requirement. Meaning, God's Will is nor dependent on anything we say or do. :amen

He knows His people and their needs. :pray
