Some states or cc and banks will give you a card that does not have the RFID upon your request.

Military ,was the first to have rfid.I dont see that as a problem.

Cash isn't banned .the apps on your phone can pay ,purchase, banking which I do all can be online.as far as a star the dhs required act is a contraversy, the idea which liberal states don't want is to weed out the fake ids.

Fake ID is always an issue for many reasons.
My bank doesn't issue anything but the chip debit/credit cards. One thing about those is that the chip looks just like the chip in my cell phone. And that chip is what pings on cell towers as a tracking device.
Google has a fixture, "find my phone". Though I would think anyone that knows a cell number could take advantage.

I watched a law and order program not long ago where a woman helped detectives solve her sisters murder using that Google program. Tracking the killer as they disposed of her sisters body and still carried her cell phone with them in the process.

It's odd to think we can be tracked. But imagine that card chip on your debit or credit card. I've had my chip fail and I'm unable to buy anything because the card reader doesn't read it. The cashier in many stores isn't allowed to enter the card numbers themselves by hand. Which is strange because if there was an issue with the card those numbers would cause the alert or flag to show in that transaction.

And the new cars coming out all have tracking devices in them. Even the option to be monitored for a fee. On-Star, etc...

On star is old.the stores I use have manually entered the card,i can purchase using my rfid chipped card,my wallet is a jammer,as my wife has a purse that dies it.

Of course privacy is a problem. Neither do I like that but aa far as lost and found those work .

My work Truck has GPS .ups and upsps have used that and trucking has the inboard signalling system abd navigation for years.

I thought On-Star was the standard in Cadillac.
I had a friend that had an eel skin wallet. They found it had deactivated the strip on their credit card after being in the wallet for a few days.
There are security wallets I've seen that insure people can't scan people's RFID chips when passing by so as to steal their information. That's brilliant.

On star goes back to the 90s,early 90s.it's a fee type system but is never truly off

That's true. A few years ago On-Star advertised their service with a commercial featuring a customer who had been carjacked. The On-Star audio voice of the woman was giving details to the customer as the camera followed their stolen car. The commercial basically told you they can control the driving of your car, as they pulled the stolen car to the shoulder of the road. They can control its speed, acceleration. This they showed as the car slowed down to pull to the shoulder.
And they lock the car so it cannot be exited. Nor can the windows be operated.
And they track your car, while listening to what's going on inside, and relay your location to police. This as they showed the police car pulling behind the stolen car.

That's intrusive. On-Star can tune in even when you don't subscribe and take control of your vehicle if they have cause.

My driver license doesn't have a gold star. But in our state you have the option to get a basic license or one that allows you to enter federal buildings and your flight at airports. I've got a regular license. I haven't flown since 2000.

And yes, I noticed the same thing about my bank card. The chip is exactly like the one in my cell. I think that is why it sometimes doesn't work for purchases. It gets swiped through a machine or plugged into the bottom of one of those key machines , and doesn't know if you want to make a call or a purchase.

Can you find that ad? A power lock always has a manual method otherwise if you don't drown because of a driving into a ditch it's because of that design.

I don't know man, it seems like anyone who would want a car that they can take control of may be a little addled in their thinking process.

Whatever can be abused will be abused and has been abused.

OnStar = Christine, lol

There are many ways of taking control of somebody else's car, hacking your way in to a very simple computer.

Give me something without all that nonsense, I want to be able to roll my windows down (and back up again!) with a crank.

In my Cruise and Silverado, all the doors can be unlocked by pulling the door lever twice, so they can't lock anyone in lol! Unless your in the back seat and have the manual child locks on.

OnStar does not monitor conversations, that's just crazy talk, and it's against the law.

If your car is stolen, they will locate the car with GPS, which is something I myself can do with my phone. They call the police and work with the police to coordinate slowing the vehicle down to a complete stop. So yes. They can remotely control your throttle and brakes. I am unsure of the steering on all models.

Yes, there are deep concerns with hacking, and there are stiff controls both in the way of hardware and software to prevent that.

I had my cc skimmed a few months ago, and I learned a few things about that new chip.

If a retailer does not use the chip and it turns out the card was a fake (skimmed), then the retailer is responsible for the loss.

They only got me for a few hundred bucks, and it didn't cost me a penny, nor my bank. The retailers did not use the chip, so they ate the loss according to my bank.

Illegal doesn't mean someone won't .I can watch my house via my vIvint system.

That can't happen without you knowing it with OnStar.
They traced a criminal with a deactivated OnStar here.he drove a car aND ruined a soccer field, the owner said it had OnStar but wasn't in use,(active) GM was subpeoned abd the teen was charged.

Alexa will listen for key words to data mine.

Tracking a vehicle with its integrated gps isn't the same as activating the voice commands and GM wont give any information to law officials without a court in certain cases.

Without permission?
So if your doctor inserted a pace maker that sends health data to its maker without consent that's ok?

It's one thing if they ask you ,you consent another if they track without consent.

A camera,in any jurisdiction is linked to the fbi, your driving is tracked.i know as slcso used that info to get a pedophile and had him within minutes of the request approval.

I'm not for that abuse, it can be great but we are talking about the feds, and security breaches.oops ,she's dead because the cop abused his position abd took revenge for that adultery,is not safistifactory for that dead woman.

That's my concern, I know and I have seen the gov't use social media to control it's employees. To a degree I get that, but it can easily go to far.if I'm off,and I work for the city I live in.I should have a right to criticize the council when I'm paying them!
