I am playing through the game for my 2nd time. It is not as scary the 2nd time through, but I still occasionally jump or lean far back from my computer.

Doom III is amazing graphically but i got angry when i found out that the xbox version has the co-op play :x

Getting my annual bonus in a week, which will allow me to buy a new computer for the first time since 2000. This will be the first game I buy 8-)

Doom 3 is a nice scary FPS. It is mostly indoors and in confined places.

I would recommend Half-Life 2 if you are looking to play a good FPS game. It has some of the best graphics and some of the best gameplay. You can get the Silver Edition to play through Half-Life 1 through the Half-Life 2 engine. It is a great story. This is probably one of the best games I have ever played.

I did end up buying Doom 3 and I loved it. Just finished beating it through the first time on the easiest level. Awesome job with all the shadowy halls and monsters suprising you at every turn.

I tried to get my wife to play, but she got too scared. I found it best to play with headphones and the lights out. It gets pretty creepy.

I won it on the normal and hard level, but nightmare was too much. (I think you keep getting reduced to 30 life.)

But if you enjoyed it, get Half-Life 2. Get the silver edition so you can play Half-Life 1 in the new graphics engine. Or wait a year, and some people are re-writing a better version of HL1 in HL2. (See http://www.blackmesasource.com/ for details on that conversion if you are interested.)

Half-Life has the best emersion in a FPS. It has a great story and is designed to allow for several ways to overcome problems in many cases.

Half life 2 looks and feels awesome. Great graphics. There are also fun welding mods that allow you to build things like planes, cautapults and many other fun items. :biggrin

Another great FPS is Unreal tournament 2004, the best multiplayer game I have ever played. Big maps, fast gameplay. The developers also actually listened to the gamers and did what they asked to make the game better, tons of great mods too.

doom 3 was fun. always good to send demons back to hell with a 12 gauge . :biggrin

My wife just finished Half-Life 2 and has decided to try to brave Doom 3. She gets very jumpy so it is always fun to wath her play. Her chair is a foot away from the keyboard and she rounds every corner with her head turned away in case something jumps out.

I kind of miss the days when I would play like that. Now I rush blindly around corners and shoot anything that moves.
