CHRISTIAN ADVICE ON DRUGS † >>> Christian help with drugs. Christian drug advice. Places for Christians

I went here in 1992 when I went to the one in Gastra Mich, it was only like 4 locations now there are many, Pastor Bracken really gets involved he started this Christian rehab in 1969, it is for people I think from about 17 to what ever age.
Just a great 9 month program for people who want to seek God for healing. And it is free, the only thing that you have to pay for is your transportation back home in advance. I don't know what they do for insurance now, because I was there in 1992. But please look them up.

Lewis

The Founder
Reverend James D. Bracken founded Mission Teens, Inc. in 1969. He opened the first residential center in Norma, NJ after much prayer. He knew there was a need for a more effective ministry for the troubled young people that were attending his home prayer meetings. After two years of little results in the center, God answered his prayer by dictating to him a progam that, when put into effect, brought immediate results in the people's lives. This same program is still used today in all of the Mission Teens centers, and the results are still phenomenal.

The Ministry
Since 1962, it has been Reverend Bracken's desire to minister God's love to people. He has seen this desire fulfilled as, over the years, he has touched the lives of thousands through not only the resident training program, but also his radio ministry, home prayer groups, newsletter articles, prison outreach, and personal counseling. Jim has given his life to ministering the gospel to the lost and to teaching others to do likewise. The Mission Teens ministry is the direct result and reflection of Jim's own ministry.

Success Rate
Since 1969, over 18,000 people have come into the various Mission Teen centers. In our annual review, we hear from about 57% of our graduates, and of those approximately 87% are doing well. In addition, approximately 40% of the non-graduates we hear from are doing well. Many have gone into Christian ministries and some have stayed on to work in the centers.

A Day At the Mission
We treat each person in our center as a member of the family. Junior staff members and higher-ranking residents teach the "younger" residents. Senior Staff and directors handle the major problems and decisions. Each one is expected to do his or her part to make the "family" run as smoothly as possible. There are 5 1/2 hours of Bible study per day, and the training amounts to approximately 1 year of Bible school. There is a comprehensive study of the New Testament and a general study of the Old Testament. The daily schedule varies slightly at the centers, but fundamentally remains the same.

The Training Program
Our purpose is to provide hope to the hopeless. It is our goal to direct the people to the Lord Jesus to find love and a purpose for their lives, and to make disciples of them as the Bible directs.

The discipleship-training program is divided up into four phases, each lasting 2-4 months. As the person proves that he/she can handle the increasing responsibilities of each phase, his privileges will increase. It is a highly structured program with a rigid daily schedule. Everyone is expected to obey the house rules and follow the schedule. Infractions of the rules or schedule are corrected with writing assignments, loss of privileges or extra work chores.

The first phase of the training is a 2-month induction period with very few privileges or responsibilities. Each invidividual is simply expected to follow the rules and will begin to understand how to seek the Lord.

The next two phases add some general household responsibilities, which will add normal life pressures and cause the person to seek the Lord for help. Privileges in these two phases include phone calls and visits from immediate family (and pastoral or legal counsel) only. No friends are allowed to visit or call any person in the discipleship training.

In the final phase, the person is in "counselor training." He will counsel one person each day and make a report to senior staff. He is expected to be a good example in the house and to learn to help others as he was helped.

Upon completion of the program, the person may be offered an additional 10-12 month staff-training program.

Funding/Expenses
Mission Teens, Inc. is a faith ministry. We do not charge for our services, and we do not receive any funding from the government. All of our support comes from concerned individuals and a few churches who are sensitive to the type of work we do. We do not receive any denominational funding. (We are non-denominational.) Each of our centers is expected to raise its own support from local sources.

We do not charge anyone for the services we provide. Our goal is to help people who have life-controlling problems, such as drug or alcohol addictions, by ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them. We believe that the Gospel should be free to all.

Mission Teens: Help for the desperate, for those willing to seek God...

Drugs are addictive and many teens are involved with it. When you're addicted, it's not actually easy to get rid of it and people can understand that but not to the extent that they should not be treated.

One great option for teens who are into drugs is to put them into christian boarding schools. Christian boarding schools offer programs and activities that will help children with their problems and other issues that affect their lives.

And what do you expect in a society where drugs are pushed by doctors for so-called maladies you don't even have? The message by doctors, the drug companies, news medias, hippies or whoever else is "take a pill" and you'll be better.

And then we sit on our thumbs and wonder why there's a drug problem.

I get so tired of going to the doctor and told I "need" High BP pills, high cholesterol pills and whatever other useless pills that don't do anything to extend life and indeed are severely toxic. (you're fine if your BP is 160/95 at rest or under and cholesterol is 300 or less) I swear they are trying to kill us all which is why I doctor myself and been doing quite fine, thank you.

I personally benefitted from a Teen Challenge program, but I've read that some of them are a little bit...extreme, for lack of a better word. Since its at least a 1 year commitment (I want to say some of them last for up to 18 months), I'd be very careful before putting myself or a loved one in such a program without first checking it out thoroughly. David Wilkerson had a great idea when he started Teen Challenge, but I'm not entirely convinced that all of the individual Teen Challenges have lived up to his vision. That said, secular rehabs have problems all their own.

I think pointing to doctors is the wrong thing to do. Before doctors needed to write a prescription for many things that require one today, people could buy them off the shelf themselves. Drug companies made them and sold them, and it wasn't until the FDA started getting involved that they need an Rx.

So, doctor involvement was around the curve from companies manufacturing them and people creating the demand. Households had bowls of Xanax in their living rooms back in the first half of the 20th century.

Illicit drugs have been dogging society for a long time, and I can't imagine there will be a day they don't. So, we can either turn a blind eye to them or help people who get ensnared. I'm happy that there are places such as the one that Lewis went to - helping society, one person at a time.
