There are more then just those verses.. The good news is we are not alone in keeping 'His Laws" We are blessed to have His grace and mercy His forgiveness when we fail His Blood covers are sin...
We need to repent.. Personally i dont believe we need to list every sin we ever committed ... we could not remember them all... to repent means to turn... As you have in your life Angel... you repented, turned away from the streets and the hell they are ... The more we know of our Lord and His word the more repentive we are ,,, as we walk with Him He is our shield our comforter our safety ...
My guess is Chopper will have a few words on this...

Here is an Idea just for you to consider!
There is only ONE SIN. There has always been only one sin, that is to DISOBEY GOD. all the other things are the behavior of natural man.
Every thing we list as Sin is something God said DO or DO NOT DO. (If we don't do what He said DO that is also disobeying God.)
There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Ro 8:1-2
The "Therefore " is the blood paid price paid on Calvary. GOD will not hold us accountable for what Jesus has already Paid for. BUT the key is IN CHRIST we must live IN CHRIST obeying GOD.
Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies.
Who is he that condemns? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Ro 8:33-34

May 12, 2016 Ecclesiastes 4:1-16 Two Are Better Than One.

1. Again I saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no one to comfort them! On the side of their oppressors there was power, and there was no one to comfort them. 2. And I thought the dead who are already dead more fortunate than the living who are still alive. 3. But better than both is he who has not yet been and has not seen the evil deeds that are done under the sun.


4. Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man’s envy of his neighbor. This also is vanitya and a striving after wind.


5. The fool folds his hands and eats his own flesh.


6. Better is a handful of quietness than two hands full of toil and a striving after wind.


7. Again, I saw vanity under the sun: 8. one person who has no other, either son or brother, yet there is no end to all his toil, and his eyes are never satisfied with riches, so that he never asks, “For whom am I toiling and depriving myself of pleasure?” This also is vanity and an unhappy business.


9. Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11. Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12. And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.


13. Better was a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king who no longer knew how to take advice. 14. For he went from prison to the throne, though in his own kingdom he had been born poor. 15. I saw all the living who move about under the sun, along with thatb youth who was to stand in the king’sc place. 16. There was no end of all the people, all of whom he led. Look at verse 4. Is that true? "Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man’s envy of his neighbor" I guess this would be like our "Keep up with the Jone's" or for men to have more toys than his neighbor.

V.5 reminds me of Proverbs 6:10 "A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest" ....I have a nephew and niece that fit this description. they are in their 20s and still don't have jobs after high school. They sit around in their father's house, watch TV and eat snacks. Yep, their both over weight. If they were my kids, I'd give them a good swift kick in their "sit sown" so hard that they would have to stand for a week. What lazy individuals.

Vs 9-12 is really good advise and very truthful. Especially on a cold New England night when I snuggle up to my Wife to get warm.

Ok, that's my worth. How about the rest of the verses, any comments?

I think it is speaking of mostly vanity of man. If your neighbor gets a car you want one. and we spend plenty money on
making life easier; when we already have something that works well. but it does show the importance of two possibly
in marriage becoming one.

Thank you Malachi for mentioning the Hebrew meanings. I love that!! I did fail to mention the "preacher" meaning of Ecclesiastes. Boy are you right, without God & His Son life simply has no meaning, it's IMO just an existence.

#1 Intelligence is the result of wisdom gained from knowledge.

#2 The fool folds his hands and eats his own flesh....This means that a fool likes his rest and sleep more than work. During the Summertime of planting and the hard physical work of keeping a garden, then the Fall harvest of hard work gathering in the fruit of the farmers labor, he eats well.

Now, since the fool likes rest more than work and labor, he has no garden thus he will starve, "eats his own flesh."

JUNE 7 2016 ECCLESIASTES 5:1-3 BETTER BE SEEN THAN HEARD.

Ecclesiastes 5:1 "Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil.
5:2 Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.
5:3 For a dream comes with much business, and a fool's voice with many words."(ESV)

Ecclesiastes 5:1 "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
5:2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
5:3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words." (KJV)

Verse 1 has several meanings by various Theologians. Personally, I didn't really like any of them except one called "Benson Commentary" whoever he is. this is what he wrote about verse 1....

Ecclesiastes 5:1. Keep thy foot — Thy thoughts and affections, by which men go to God, and walk with him. See that your hearts be upright before him, devoted to him, and furnished with those graces essential to the true worship of him, especially with reverence, humility, resignation, meekness, faith, and love. It is a metaphor taken from a person’s walking in a very slippery path, in which more than ordinary care is requisite to keep him from falling: when thou goest to the house of God — The place of God’s solemn and public worship, whether the temple or a synagogue; and be more ready to hear — To hearken to, and obey, God’s word; than to give the sacrifice of fools — Such as foolish and wicked men are wont to offer, who vainly think to please God with their sacrifices, without true piety and obedience. For they consider not that they do evil — They are not sensible of the great sinfulness of such thoughts and practices, but, like fools, think they do God good service. (compliments of "Bible Hub")

In my way of thinking, verse one sets the stage for verses 2 & 3 because of the seriousness of entering the House of God, or as we say, the local Church. I don't think I'm the only one who notices the careless entry that some people make when they go to church. Today, some act like church is a social club. Don't get me wrong, praise God that there still are many Churches that are the genuine article.

About a year ago, I left the Baptist Church that I had attended for about 13 years. The reason that I left, and I wasn't the only one. It became apparent to some of us older members that the Pastor and his wife, who are in their middle 30s, were really after the younger people with families and young children. Personally, I felt that the Pastor and his Wife compromised some of the older standards to accommodate the younger crowd. Standards like modest attire, worship songs were getting more like a rock concert, and the young women who sang solo were not in modest attire. As I said before, church seemed more like a social club sprinkled with some topical preaching that tickled the ear. There were good points though, so not all was bad. It was the attitude of those attending that turned my Wife and I off.

We now belong to a Church in New Hampshire, about a 45 min. ride. The pastor started that Church 36 years ago and is very solid. The Pastor preaches the whole counsel of God, Books of the Bible verse by verse, line upon line etc. etc.

I'll leave off for right now and see what some of you have to say about any of the three verses. I'll tackle verses 2 & 3 in a couple of days. My schedule is very busy counseling some folk who have desperate needs....Love You all!!

I've learned a lot here at CFnet and too often we don't show our appreciation.
Chopper, and several others, are very good at explaining scripture and the concepts of
Christianity.

It's good to be appreciative and thankful.
It's edifying to people - this is what Christians should do - it helps us (the giver and the receiver) in our walk with God.

Standards like modest attire, worship songs were getting more like a rock concert, and the young women who sang solo were not in modest attire. As I said before, church seemed more like a social club sprinkled with some topical preaching that tickled the ear. There were good points though, so not all was bad. It was the attitude of those attending that turned my Wife and I off.

I've always known that the world has to adhere to the church, not the other way around.
When I see what you speak of above, I think that the church is more concerned with
membership than it is with saving souls.

Some pastor, or priest - this is happening in every denomination - will have the attitude of allowing this because
they feel it's important that the person attend church - no matter how, no matter what has to be done
to get this accomplished.

But, then, where is the teaching? Where is the guiding? Has the church found a new goal?
Anything goes, just fill up the church!

In the end, only a remnant will remain...

Thank you for that reply. The sad part for me is, I've been a Baptist Pastor for many years and the churches that the Lord called me to were in trouble as far as numbers attending or poor leadership that was grieving the Holy Spirit. In those three established Baptist Churches, our Lord used me as a vessel to either increase the membership thru His powerful Gospel message, or to weed out wicked men who controlled the running of the Assembly.

During those years of having the Lord Jesus Himself change either the numbers of members or changing leadership, He taught me how His Church should operate in holiness and to have His approval by giving us revival. Now today, I see history repeating itself. Low membership, and poor leadership. Because so many modern pastors require good salaries, they compromise God's standards to bring in a good crowd, and that bothers me as well as you.

All this is a reminder to me that we are nearing the end of this age....Matthew 24:37 "For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man." ESV All this reminds me that if we know of a Church that is true to God's Word, that the Pastor is preaching repentance and the whole counsel of God, that Pastor should be rewarded by our grateful response to him for staying faithful to his calling.

This Scripture can have many applications: in the home, in the church, in witnessing, in soul-winning, in business. Hence the proverb "Two heads are better than one". Christ always sent out His disciples two by two while applying this principle. He also said that if two of you agree on anything in prayer, it shall be done, and where two or three are gathered together in His name, He is in their midst. There is a very sound psychological and spiritual principle behind this, which most of us are not aware of.
