I've been watching a mama robin and her four chicks which live on my front porch in a nest for about a month now and they're gone this morning. I haven't seen the mama for a few days now. Usually she's there most of the time.

I don't think she pushed them out of the nest like they say they do. I think she just left because she knew they were big enough to go on their own now.

One time a Robin had decided to build her nest right on the side of our house. Unfortunately though the babies didn't survive. :sad

That must have been pretty cool to watch every day!
I hope a cat didnt stumble across the nest. We fed birds from a feeder for years off our front porch until our newest cat figured it out. We moved the feeder to a nearby branch that we thought was cat safe, but apparently wasnt.

No a cat couldn't reach it. The nest is way up in the corner on top a post.

I haven't seen any of them now. They all moved out.

I remember two times, in the morning the mama would go find worms and come back and feed them...but a smaller bird, I figured thr daddy would also come feed them. He"d come, she'd fly away, he'd feed them some then she'd come back and he'd go to find more worms. They took turns!

But he didn't live there! He just stopped by to make child support payments, lol!

Ha, that's really cool. We love watching the birds around our house. We even built several houses for them.

This town is just teeming with wildlife. Birds are everywhere. Lots of times I hear them. At first I thought it was just the house creaking and stuff cuz its old, but its birds. (Used to be on the porch) and another one has a nest on the side of my window shaker and I have a young groundhog that lives under my porch. I gave him a couple cookies the other day, lol

Our yard is bird sanctuary. So many different kinds. I'd go broke putting out any seed for them. When it rains they love to use our well top as a birdbath. If I hang laundry I have to rewash it so no more hanging laundry. I have two Hummingbird feeders and love watching them outside the window. They are territorial and fight over the feeders.

Hummingbirds look so pretty, wish we had them over here.

We were with my brothers camping this past weekend. My one brother has long hair and keeps it in a ponytail. Something landed in his hair and he brushed it away and it landed on my other brothers girlfriends shirt that had flowers on it. Here it was a baby Hummingbird and was frightened by what happened to it and just clung to her shirt. We tried giving it some sugar water and eventually it took a little so we put it in the shade with the water and it finally found its strength to fly. Noe we call his girlfriend the bird lady, LOL.

I always think it's a gift when something like that happens.
