24 "Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy. Daniel 9:24

To bring in everlasting righteousness…

Notice that in order to fulfill the word spoken by Daniel, that is to say, the 70 weeks being completed, then the requirements following the time span of 70 weeks would need to be met. One of which would be everlasting righteousness.

The 70 weeks of time are determined for Daniels’ people and Daniel’s city.
The Jewish people and Jerusalem.

It would be foolishness at best to think that everlasting righteousness would be brought in for these people and for this city, while they are in a state of “unbelief’ about the Messiah.

Jesus said –
40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Matthew 13:40-43

Everlasting will be “brought in†when these two things are accomplished.

  • The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

There will be no more unrighteous people left for they will have been removed.

  • Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.

The righteous will “shine forth as the sunâ€, as Jesus demonstrated for us an an example of the righteous state of being that God intended for Adam and Eve, and all their offspring to walk in as a reflection of the image of God.

1 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. Matthew 17:1-2

Until the angels gather all those who practice lawlessness and cast them into the fire, and the righteous shine forth as the sun, then “everlasting righteousness†will be something we look forward to.

I thought maybe JLB was trying to make some kind of statement...:shrug

Just simply directing those who are genuinely interested in the truth of what the scriptures say about "things to come".

Preterism teaches that all scripture was fulfilled before 70 AD. :verysick

Why is this in the preterism subforum?

It's really quite simple,as the question you should ask yourself is when did the below take place

The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Question Ive been trying to get answered for awhile now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Why are the wicked still here??????????

So, I guess you don't understand that Christ brought "Everlasting Righteousness"
yet!

That's sad.

BTW, can I offer you something for your stomach?

So, I guess you don't understand that Christ brought "Everlasting Righteousness"
yet!

That's sad.

BTW, can I offer you something for your stomach?

Please give the scriptures for your statement.

Here is what Jesus taught us about this subject -

38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Matthew 13:38-43

And again -

34 And Jesus answered and said to them, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35 But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 36 nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. Luke 20:34-36

From these scriptures we can learn that -

Everlasting Righteousness will be established when the wicked are removed from the earth and the resurrected bodies we will have will have no corruption in them for they will be everlasting glorified bodies that will never die -

Hence the term Everlasting Righteousness.

All of this will come about because of the cross and what Jesus did for us.

However, as the scriptures say it will be when He returns the second time -

28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

and again -

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 1 John 3:2

  • Everlasting Righteousness will be established when the wicked are removed from the earth and the resurrected bodies we will have will have no corruption in them for they will be everlasting glorified bodies that will never die

Then the Glory of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea!

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

There is a process of transformation to become the righteousness of God in Him.

The phrase "might become" recognizes this process which will be fully manifested when Jesus Christ appears a second time.

... but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

When He is revealed we will be like Him!

If Christ didn't appear FOR them a second time, then NO one has salvation yet!

Your mistake, for one, is that you don't recognize that there were 2 "ages" the Hebrews knew. The old covenant age under Moses AND the "age to come" under the Messiah. The age to come officially came in AD70 when the earthly "house" (the Temple made with hands) was destroyed. That's when only the remnant of Israel & gentile believers entered the heavenly city- the New Jerusalem (the mother of us all) The dead were raised & the living in Christ put on immortality.

The work of the Holy Spirit on our inner man is a process of course- after salvation.

When David said the Lord would show him His salvation- It is the same meaning in the N.T as His grace & blessings. David already ascribed to Faith in God.

You err not knowing the scriptures.

Jesus clearly defined the two ages for us in scripture.

This age - In which people marry and are given in marriage and they die.

The age to come - In which people do not marry and they neither die anymore.

The idea of a "old covenant age" and a "new covenant age" is a made made doctrine to prop up a made made belief that Jesus returned in 70 AD which is completely false!

The resurrection of the dead occurs when Jesus Christ returns at the end of the age.

As long as people are still dying it is still this age, which began with Adam and will end at the resurrection.

We are all eagerly awaiting His return, and to be clothed with immortality!

No. We already have "eternal" life in us. The living were "changed" at the time of the dead being resurrected from Hades to the presence of God in heaven in AD70. Believers put on immortality when that great epoch came (the New Covenant age of grace in Christ)

Now, understand what Jesus said about the Resurrection of the dead from Hades in Matt.22:
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?[c] God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.†33 And when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.
What this clearly means, taken together with other prophecies in His contemporaneous "generation," is that the end of the age (of the Old Covenant Law & prophets fulfilled in Him) would be the end of the "this age" Mosaic age- AND the "age to come" would begin at the Resurrection of the dead from Hades- when marriage is no longer applicable to those dying in Christ, bc they have already put on immortality & are clothed with a spiritual body in heaven.

That is the whole message behind "having the Spirit as a guarantee"

We are discussing the idea of "yours" that there is an "old covenant" age and a "new covenant" age.

Clearly, from the words of Jesus there is no such thing.

From this passage of scripture that concerns this age and the age to come, we find the truth.

If people are still marrying and given in marriage, then this age is not yet over.

In the age to come, which takes place at the return of Jesus Christ and the resurrection from the dead, people will no longer marry or be given in marriage.

Look closely at what Jesus taught about the subject of the end of the age -

40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Matthew 13:40-43

... and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire.

The wicked and lawless will be removed and be cast into the furnace of fire.

At the present moment the tares and the wheat are growing together, but when He returns at the end of the age, the wicked and lawless will be removed and the righteous will shine forth as the sun in their resurrected, glorified bodies.

He says it this way in Matthew 25 -

31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' 37 Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40 And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' 41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: Matthew 25:31-41

The parables in Mat.25 are about separating the sheep & goats of Israel in the Judgment. "Nations" sometimes means nations of Israel, depending on its context.
Try not to overreact and call another Christian something you cannot prove.

If you are not teaching people that Jesus Christ returned in 70 AD and the resurrection is past then the term Heresy does not apply to you.

If on the other hand you do in fact teach people that the resurrection is past and Jesus returned in 70 AD then you are teaching Heresy.

Do you believe Jesus returned in 70 AD and the saints were resurrected then?

Above is your quote!

The New Covenant began at the cross not 70 AD!

At the end of the age, on the last day, Jesus will resurrect us.

JLB

The New Covenant began at the cross.

And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. Hebrews 9:15

Jesus said -

For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28

The forgiveness of sins by the shed blood of Jesus, began at the cross.

Paul, a minster of the New Covenant writes -

5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:5-6

The idea that the New Covenant began in 70 AD in a false doctrine.

It was conceived and contrived by men as, what Paul called, "a cunningly devised fable".

It was designed by man to "prop up" a man made doctrine that states the old covenant age passed away and the new covenant age began in 70 AD.

It plays off the scripture -

... And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age? Matthew 24:3

Some applications are individual and subjective. Righteosness is declared by Jesus as being justified (to god) by faith in him. (Jesus) It is everladting, subjective and individual. It will grow, but hss been hindered by teachings saying that it is in the future.

This phrase you wrote tells me you don't yet understand the topic of this post, which is "Everlasting Righteousness; something to look forward to".

Righteosness is declared by Jesus as being justified
Jesus Christ wrought for us a righteousness that is of faith, for those who believe.

We obtain this righteousness immediately when we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth.

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. 5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, "The man who does those things shall live by them." 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, " 'Who will descend into the abyss?' " (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:4-10

Then we have the idea of maturing in the righteousness of God through the process of transformation -

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2

However this discussion centers on the phrase Everlasting Righteousness, which is found in Daniel 9:24 -

24 "Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.

and finds it's fulfillment in Jesus Christ -

41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Matthew 13:41-43

For there to be an Everlasting Righteousness on Earth, "as it is in heaven", first all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, must be removed.
Then those who are righteous must never die.

For those requirements to be fulfilled, Jesus Christ The Righteous Judge must return and He Himself will determine who will be removed and who will stay, as it is written -

34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: Matthew 25:31-34,41

and again

35 But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 36 nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

Jesus demonstrated for us as an example of what it means to shine forth as the sun -

Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.

and as Daniel teaches -

2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever. Daniel 12:2-3
