So,.. one of the highlights in watching the new Tomb Raider movie last night was seeing a couple of previews to movies that actually looked rather good including a film I have never heard of that was based upon a novel. Just in case you haven't figured it out by now, it was entitled: "Every Day" and it was about this teenager that wakes up in this new body every day. It would sound very interesting to me if it wasn't for the fact that they (A) fall in love with a girl and one day they (A) is a girl herself and so of course there is a lesbian kiss scene in it.

I found that part out from waching the previews. So anyways, here's my question. As a Christian should I refuse to watch something that sounds like a really good movie just because it has a lesbian kiss scene in it? Do you think it would be considered sinful?

Previews are made to promote/make you like the movie.
Movies are also fantasy... AKA not reality.

Previews are a form of propaganda...
All advertising is a form of propaganda.
Movies are another form of propaganda.

Reality is something vastly different.

"Your life will be wonderful and your family will love you if you use this brand of fabric softener"

"You will be beautiful and sexy if you use this brand of toothpaste"

"All men will find you irresistible if you use this particular perfume"

"You will really enjoy the romance and entertainment of this movie" (even though it promotes a horribly sinful lifestyle)

See the theme here?

I like good movies myself. I like the Avengers series. I also like the other one.

Hollywood is trying desperately to shove a homosexual lifestyle down our throats as if it were acceptable and normal and possibly as preferred by everyone. Okay but the truth is something vastly different. Only a very small minority of people actually engage in the practice and the rest of the people view it as very distasteful even to the point of revolting.

My wife had a minor in her college degrees in propaganda. Studying the successful propaganda campaigns of the past. And Hollywood is actually following history with this propaganda campaign. One very successful campaign in our recent past. And it's working. The campaign was actually created by two different people and run almost at the same time. You will recognize their names as villains of the past. Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler.

Ummm,.. so,.. are you saying that I shouldn't see the movie then?? I think that's what I got out of that response. :chin I mean I will finally confess something to you right now. In case you weren't already aware of this, I love Harry Potter! I think that it's a wonderful fantasy series,.. fantasy being the keyword here because the kind of stuff this movie is trying to promote unfortunately isn't a fantasy.

I like Harry Potter too. It's a lot of fun and has an underlying theme that there really are no secrets. It's complete and obvious fantasy.

hi. i think Christians need to be engaged in and engage the surrounding non-Christian/"post-Christian" culture. I don't think its OK for Christians to view porn (as in...don't go too far in engaging a sinful culture...), but movies, books, art, etc...I don't have a problem, personally.

Thanks CE that's some great advice! :thumbsup (as usual since you always give great advice) It's funny that as God's people we are instructed not to add anything to His Word, but yet, somewhere along the line "Thou shall not read or watch Harry Potter and use thy imagination even though your Lord thy God gave it to you in the first place" became the eleventh Commandment. :rolleyes
