Sorry if this thread was posted somewhere else. If it was, I didn't see it. After watching the first 15 minutes of Noah and speeding over the rest of that film, I thought someone in Hollywood would have demanded to do better. I should have known when I read on Plugged In that the director was openly hostile toward religion and that the star had no idea who Moses was, but there we went to plop down our money.

Brutal... Just brutal. I won't reveal any spoilers, but I do want to make a few points to demonstrate that they tossed scripture aside entirely. Every time God revealed Himself to Moses, God seemed like a spiteful little spoiled pre-teen. Moses, for his part, was repeatedly bothered and annoyed by Him. Instead of humbly considering himself ill-equipped, this Moses was indignant with God's decisions.

Never was the first meeting with his staff turning into a snake; no meeting at all. Moses is not on board with God's plans for plagues, so God tells him to go off on his own and watch as wave after wave of calamity occurs without warning.

That was just a few things that stood out to me. Does anyone have anything to add or even defend this film?

I think I covered most of it in the other thread. Good action film, but almost entirely imagination.

Willie, sorry if I duplicated a thread if you started one on this. As I said, I didn't see it. I'll look around more. I went into this with low expectations of anything true to scripture, and it still underwhelmed me. It's an insult that such a project is given to a director that has publicly expressed his bias against faith.

No sweat, it doesn't hurt to let plenty of people know what a misleading title this is for just a typical action film.

Hello,

I was wondering if it is really difficult for Christians to put together a quality film with quality actors? Perhaps we just don't have the funds or maybe most of the talented actors are afraid to act in a film that is faithful to the Bible. I saw a quick excerpt of an interview with someone related to the film, and I remember them saying they tried to consider all faiths.

It really wasn't that bad of a film, quality-wise. Maybe not Oscar winning, but not too bad. Just way out in left field, somewhere in accuracy.

That is really the biggest problem with the film. It is supposed to be an account from the bible, which means the only consideration for other faiths that should be made is that the Egyptians worshiped gods that did nothing for them in the face of the many plagues that were inflicted upon them. Other than that it is simply an example of how God will do anything to save His people, no matter what.

i saw the movie and think the visual effects were very good.
but also got the impression they tried to belittle God.
