Anyone seen "faith like potatoes"? http://www.amazon.com/Faith-Like-Po...ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1240246058&sr=8-1
I rented it at my local blockbuster.
It really touched me. It is a very honest story of a white farmer in Africa (there is some mild swearing at the beginning, which I took to emphasize his pre-conversion and his mis-treatment of the zulus) and how one day he got saved. And how he had such a simple faith, and was a 'simple' hard-working man and how God took that and worked through him.
His faith was and is amazing and really spoke to me - if I had as simple as faith as him and was open to God, knowing His power - what would my life look like - my neighbourhood, friends, etc?
It really does challenge you personally when you see this as a christian.
After I watched it, I watched the 1hr long documentary of the real guy and his real story, which is under the bonus features and does follow the movie. And it was this that really challenged me and moved me, seeing him talk, knowing his story.
It was obviously filmed on location, and has good cinematography. If I wanted to nitpick, in some scenes the acting wasn't good (his crying at the conversion scene, didn't feel genuine) the women acting in some parts. But it didn't really detract from the movie, and it did a good job of showing what some parts of life is like there.
Recommend it to Christians so our faith can be challenged and encouraged to do more, live in faith. And recommend it to non-Christians as parts of his life are well documented and you can see the miracles and then hopefully believe in God.
