Many syncretistic religions formed gnosticism. Gnosticism was rivaling against Christianity and gnosticism held itself better religion as Christianity was. Word gnosticism comes from Greek word gnosis, which means knowledge. Gnosticism was various effects, for instance, some Gnostics taught that divinity can be achieved through unity of the man and woman. This thought led some Gnostics to reach for divinity through sexual intercourse between the man and woman. There existed also some Gnostics, who abstained from sexual intercourse. When we know the fact that Gnostics held Christians as their enemies and that Gnostics held themselves better as Christians and that Gnostics wanted to show in every way that Gnosticism was better as Christianity, so Gnostics made so called gnostic gospels were they twisted, slandered and misrepresented the real gospels. Gnostics went so far in this misrepresent that they wrote "new gospels" by faking the real gospels. In these faked gospels Gnostics wrote that Jesus Christ was an ordinary man who has a sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene.

This evil claim that Mary Magdalene would be Jesus' wife suited to Gnostics, because Gnostics tried to prove that their belief was better as Christian faith. So they made up doctrine about Jesus, who was married with Mary Magdalene. With these evil claim Gnostics made Jesus as an ordinary man and Gnostics try to undress Godhead of Jesus by this evil claim. The thought about marriage of Jesus Christ and sexual intercourse with Jesus and Mary Magdalene is gnostic gospel, which is spurious and faked gospel and not the real Gospel. There was among Gnostic people some who abstained from sexual intercourse and so Gnostics said that also Jesus spent depraved and sinful life. So Gnostic gospels have been born and these faked gospels were public letters with whose help Gnostics attacked against Christians. Gnostics invented a cunning plot to slander and defame Christians and attack against the truth of the word of God. Inspiration of Gnostic texts is in the headquarter of the darkness. The real truth about Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene can be found from the Bible. The Bible doesn't tell that Jesus was married, because Jesus was not married, and He wasn't an ordinary man, because He is the Son of Living God. Jesus Christ came to this world to die for the sake of sinners and atone sins of those people who repent their sins and believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and the Saviour.

Gnostic texts have also these features where Gnostics set themselves higher position as Christians and Gnostics didn't believe that Jesus was God. Preceding points prove that gnostic Apocrypha texts have not any Biblical and truthful values. Gnostics made their gospels for the reason that they wanted to prove the faith of Christians and the Bible for incorrect. Gnostics wanted to emphasize their beliefs through their faked gospels, and they kept Christians as their enemies. Gnostic texts are not original and true gospels, but faked gospels. By Gnostic texts cannot prove Biblical matters, because Gnostic texts have been written in evil purpose to twist the truth of the Bible and defame Jesus Christ.

I dont recall anywhere in the Bible mentioning that Jesus was or was not married, I think for the times He was living in it would be extremely unusual for a young man not to take a wife, but then Jesus was rather unusual. I am not sure that "filling in the gaps" is of evil intent tho.

If Jesus had married it would have been even more unusual for the writers of the Gospels not to mention the fact. We know that Peter was married. We also know that Paul was a widower. We need to remember that Jesus had the advantage of know when, where, and why He was going to leave this earth. Although there is no sin in marriage, why would He marry, just to leave a widow?

Also, considering how many time Mary Magdalene is mentioned, there is no reason why the writers wouldn't have stated her relationship to Jesus had they been married.

I agree, the pseudo-gospels are there just to promote false teachings and confuse the world to the truth of God.

Dora, you are one of the few people, that I have ran into, who knows that Paul was married. :yes

Another thing people tend to overlook is the cultural practices of the time. It is written that Jesus kissed a number of people, what a number fail to realize is that in biblical times a kiss was often given on the forehead...the forehead. Nowhere else that is mentioned biblically. When reading the bible, eyes need to be opened. For the lives we live today are very different in comparison to the overall lifestyle back then.

I would be interested in the scripture that states this if you wouldn't mind posting it.

Well, I saw your request here Destiny, and went to find the texts and found out that there are none. I have always been taught via various preachers and such that Paul was a widower. So, since I found out that there were not texts that spoke of Paul's widowhood, only his singlehood (sure it's a word, I just made it up!) I started searching why so many teach that Paul was a widow. Here is what I found:

Clement of Alexandria, who was a church father from about the 200's stated that Paul was married.
http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff/npnf201 ... i.xxx-p7.3 .

It was also overwhelmingly customary that Jewish men who studied as rabbis, as Paul did, were married.

Yet we also know from 1Corinthians 7, that Paul must have been single.

So, it has been concluded that Paul was a widow.

However, these are extra-Biblical conclusions. Most likely, Paul was a widower, but we cannot state for sure that he was. The foundation upon which to build the idea of Paul being married/widowed is much stronger than the one regarding Jesus though, because Clement did state that he was and Clement was an excellent historian, as well as writing very close to the time of the Apostle himself, within about 110 years of Paul's death.

Therefore I correct my above statement, we don't know that Paul was widowed, but it is likely that he was.
