God is good!

My parents and I were once (very) estranged. A lot of it was my own sins and misdeeds, some of it was from psychiatrists (they insisted on taking a bad situation and making it 1,000x worse...it seems they're good at that...), some of it was...well, just the way the cookie crumbled, I suppose.

Now? Well, I've been genuinely saved, and that by a miracle, for a bit less than 5 years. There's peace here, at home with my parents. I'm considered "severely mentally ill," so I get disability and live here. I feel safe here (I was attacked once, during a psychotic episode...not fun...).

When I first moved in, there was all kinds of tension. Happens. Now...my parents are kind to me, and I'm kind to them, too. The Lord has changed me so much, I've been praying that He will use His work in my life to facilitate His work in their lives, too.

Mama's retired recently, thank goodness. The pressure is off, at long last. She's cooking more. She even made the best biscuits I've had in years the other day...biscuits w/ carroway seeds and I think some kind of cheese in the mix. Good times.

Dad's going steady in his high pressure job, but he's good at it and he seems to enjoy his time at work, overall.

It dawned on me...the world is a rough, rough place. Its funny, because when I was in and of the world, I didn't "get it..." now, The Lord has saved (I pray is saving, and will save...) me, and I'm starting to "get it." Ideally, one's family should be a refuge in a cold, uncaring, unforgiving world. Doesn't pan out for everyone, but by God's grace...that's what my family is for me, now: something of an oasis in a harsh, cut throat world.

OK. Another Praise Report (!!!), if ever there was one. God is good! :)
