Jesus said we are to love our neighbours as ourselves. Well, that includes men and women. If I follow what Jesus taught, I'm practicing equality. I'm also following Christ's example:

"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God <sup class="crossreference" value='(K)'></sup>something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death —
even death on a cross!" (Phil. 2:5-8, NIV)

As far as this relates to men and women, husbands are instructed to have this mindset towards their wives in Ephesians 5:25-26,

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word" (NIV). Women are then instructed to follow this example. It's a beautiful picture of love and reciprocal service. Ephesians 5:21 summarizes this picture well: "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." (NIV)

If this is a threat to the social order, then I expect the order in question is not worth preserving.

BobE, I have a Bible. Therefore, you cannot twist scripture without being caught. In Ephesians 5:21, Paul is speaking to members of the church in relations with other members of the church. Read the next verse:

Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Ephesians 5:22 NIV

Far from how you attempt to misuse scripture, the Bible clearly states that men and women are not "equal". The man is clearly above or "the head" of the woman. Do you have some form of pamphlet entitled: "Bible verses to use against Christians who never read their Bibles to support cultural marxism"?

You can't get away with it, pal. I have a Bible and I actually read it - all of it.

Sure the women did a lot of greatstuff then. Women were also greatly respected then. Nobody dare cursed in front of a woman. Lots of things women were protected from.

This idea that women were all abused until Gloria Steinem came along is a crock of something

Joe, you are so right. Statistics show that violence against women increased many fold as the evils of feminism reared their ugly (quite literally in the case of most feminists) heads. Isn't it also ironic that feminists decried that women were "sex objects" and now they're seen as sexual objects more than ever in the past?

The fact is they don't want "equality" and they don't want "fairness" - they wanted to destroy a society and they've done it. Now the little girls and boys who don't know anything come on here to tell you and I that women were enslaved, abused and cheated before feminism.

A false dichotomy. Women could vote before feminism. Women could hold property before feminism. Women were protected from physical abuse before feminism - more so than today. These things we already had before feminism. You seem to have been indoctrinated to believe (not knowing anything that came before) that all these things began with feminism. As i said, you know nothing but the lies you've been taught.

First of all, that's not what a false dichotomy is. Please refrain from using terms you don't understand.

Second, it's not in dispute by any reputable historian that women were not allowed to vote in most states until into the 20th century. If you want to argue that there's some sort of grand conspiracy to alter history, you might want to show some proof of such an extraordinary claim.

I was referring to "the left", which includes a ton of people. They're the ones who have been crying that "the right" has some "war on women" going on, no? (Like "the right" is just a bunch of men who want to oppress women. Yeahright.)

My stance on what you're talking about--this claim that feminism is the cause of all of our problems, is that there's too much going on to point to one thing.
And it also depends on which feminism you're talking about. If you mean "girl power" feminism, then you may be right in some sense.

If it's having the right to vote and work jobs...then I'm just gonna have to disagree with you. *shrug* I don't think the problem is having that right--I think the problem is encouraging lack of responsibility.
I think the problem is when they're saying "I shouldn't be enslaved to a marriage and family" and expect us to to support their desire to walk out on their responsibilities. That is the problem--having jobs and being able to vote isn't.

I realize that a certain brand of feminism has promoted this irresponsibility, too. I haven't done a ton of research on it, but from what I do know of it I'm no fan of modern feminism. Probably not a fan of the kind that started in the 1960's, either. (Though I know very little about that. But I imagine I'll be reading about that time period later on this year as part of my schoolwork.)

Femininism is the cause of the transormation of America into a matrirchy which comes with the territory of external weakness and internal social decay seen in all seven social institutions.

The social forces are collected under the flag of liberalism and expressed by te policies of the liberal Left, but they are really the effects of a power shift from male dominance in the decision making processes of the Nation, (face-the-facts-realism),to the female "thinking," (i.e.;" Feelings," aka Jungian Pychology) which is domestic in its perspective, idealistic in its intent, and socialistic in its application).

The whole Cultural of Politically Correctness which now governs us is the replacement for the Institution of Law and order.
It is exactly why we are seeing less "order" and more "law breaking" of every kind.

This is not something new to the world, though the idealism of the Left does not recognize the former Matriarchies which have risen and fell since time immemorial.

So, perhaps taking the more extreme rhetoric and setting it aside for one moment... am I the only person that can see some benefits to the historical promotion of women's rights? Women being able to vote, own property, hold a job, be paid fairly for it, and be protected from physical abuse, are these terrible things we've brought into society?

Yes, it's easy to point to the handful of extremists (in ANY movement or ideology), and you can even fool a percentage of the population by claiming those extremists represent a much larger faction than they do. But you have to be fair and look at the whole movement. Deal with the nutcases individually; don't use them to justify a war against anything you dislike.

The benefits actually have been to a small group of women who have gardnered to extra acceleration into that special group of talented, educated, intelligent and exclusive body of woman always present among us, the courtesans and elite, especiall daughters of the rich who gain much of the power in the Aexual Revolution.

For the large body of less socially, economically, and advantaged women, their plight got much worse since 1960.

Now they, too, can earn low wages along side the husbands who once paid all the bills.
These women once they stayed home and focused upon family and their children.

1) Feminism doubled the Labor Pool for the masses of Unskilled Workers who are predominant in the Work Force, and essential (according to the Law of Supply and Demand), effectively lowered the Wages for their husbands and themselves.

2) Feminism made it possible for women to also provide half of the family income by lowering the salaries of their husbands.

3) Feminism encouraged the pre-matrimony sex that aborted the first baies of the young girls.

4) Feminism opened the door to No Fault Divorce which encouraged foolish, hopeful, naive girls to seek grener pastures and encouraged men to avoid the responsibility of Fatherhood.

5) Feminism endorsed Welfare which has stripped America of the strong Family Units necessary for a healthy nation.

6) Feminism has organized a one side Peace Movement that dismantled our volunteer army and made us dependent upon mercenaries, sooner or later to fail us.

7) Feminism has aided and abetted the enemy since Veitnam in every case, and is a well known tool by which wars and campaigns can be won against our superior forces.

8) Feminism has eliminated the authority of the father in the home, the corporal punishment of th only Bully at school, i.e., the teacher, and reduced the police FORCE in the community to coddlers unable to stop Flash Mobs, destructive social Attack Groups, a focus of the race or religion of a segment of the population with known criminal intent.

9) Feminism has created the girlie-men who are raised by more successful single women, and the criminal element within of young male patriarch barbarians who control all of our major intercities.

10) Feminism supported the Barnay Franks, Sen Dodds, the Obama ACORN community organizers who forced the Banks to loan money to people who could never pay back the mortgages.

11) Feminism has made harlotry acceptable, and even enviable while enouraging teens to be sexually active for 14 years of adolescence before marriage at age 26.

12) Feminism has made the Truth politically incorrect, too.

Yes, I know what the term means and I used it correctly.

Your second point is utterly irrelevant. Feminism post-dates voting rights by forty years. I would remind you that you started this thread and entitled it "Feminism - Let's just do it" the subject is not the right to vote or own property, but feminism. You clearly stated that without feminism women could not vote, earn money, own property, etc. and that is a false dichotomy.

A well ordered list of the consequences of feminism. Well said, sir.

Seeing an awful lot of hatred in this thread coming from one side in particular.

Yes, I "hate" seeing my beloved country go to Hell in a handbasket. I "hate" that 45 million babies have been murdered in their mothers' wombs. I "hate" that most children will never know the security of a loving mother who works (harder than any cubicle-occupying, corporate, female drone) hard to care for her husband and children. I "hate" that the US military awarded a Silver Star for gallantry to Jessica Lynch, who did nothing but faint in combat, in a slap in the face to the myriads of American men who performed brave deeds who received nothing - all to curry favor with feminists.

Yes, there's a lot of "hate". Do you "love" abortion? Do you "love" illegitimacy? Do you "love" divorce?

Quit looking to blame someone, take care of business and fix it.

Step one is for our sisters to vote in Romney and all the most conservative legislaturers with him.

The next is that they speak out against the sexual promiscuity that leads to the dilemma of either Aborting the first grand kids, (which they do, until our women are over age 26 and married), or doubling up Welfare now budgeted at the same level as the Military each year.

Demand that these new conservative representatives in government repudiate No Fault Divorce and reinstitute the practice of stripping the adulterous party of as much property as possible.

The next thing is for mothers to insist their daughters marry the guy they get pregnant by, so as to return to the previous conventions that required girls to be pretty certain the guy would marry her if need be.

Then,... end welfare with a grand mom clause that still covers the dependent mothers of today, but denies any funding for newbies.

Follow this with reducing the Work Force by eliminating the women's membership in the Labor Market, hence eliminating the present Unemployment, and decreasing the Labor Supply,... hence, raising wages.

Then increase the Minimum Wage so unskilled male laborers can support a family on their salary.

Do I love those things? Nope, but if they aren't Christian we can't expect them to act Christian. We cannot hold them to our standards.

I "hate" that most children will never know the security of a loving mother who works (harder than any cubicle-occupying, corporate, female drone) hard to care for her husband and children.

My wife works because she must and because she wants to. I do not make enough to support the both of us. I do not make enough to support our child coming in November. There is nothing wrong with a woman working, nothing at all. She also enjoys working. She enjoys being around her co-workers. Who am I to keep her at home when she wants to be out working?

My grandmother, who was born well before you were, worked as a cafeteria cook at the high school that I attended. She was an old fashioned Italian woman. Her mother and father brought her over here from Italy when she was a year old in 1920. My grandfather worked hard, he fought in World War II. When I was born he was working as a custodian for that same high school. They were also very Catholic. My grandfather was an usher for over 35 years when he died. He died as a captain of the ushers for their parish. My grandmother was involved with the ladies at the church. Every year without fail, even well into their advanced age, my grandparents would work the annual feast.

Again I say there is nothing wrong with women working, nothing at all.

Follow this with reducing the Work Force by eliminating the women's membership in the Labor Market, hence eliminating the present Unemployment, and decreasing the Labor Supply,... hence, raising wages.

That is taking many steps backwards and I would fight this till my last dying breath!

agree

still blaming women
Follow this with reducing the Work Force by eliminating the women's membership in the Labor Market, hence eliminating the present Unemployment, and decreasing the Labor Supply,... hence, raising wages.
Take the wages away from women because the men cant compete.

Then increase the Minimum Wage so unskilled male laborers can support a family on their salary.
No government in business

Where would feminism have gotten if the government had stayed out of it?

2X

But she is bias and hears condemnation in what I say because women smart from any criticism to the extent that even though I am not blaming anyone.

I mean by "They" us adults.

Further, increasing the Min Wage will save the present economy since trhat will raise the Consumer Spending and hgence the GNP.

That IS the solution, to increase the GNP... jobs will follow.

Kinda makes my point Joe....:thumbsup

Look Reba, you seem to be aware of the problem and not particularly opposed to the idea that the cuktural changes starting in 1960 with the Feminist Sexual Revolution is and has been the spring board for our present enormous social problems.

If you can not see beyond your own protective interests for the women who are not only a part of the cause, for sure, but most the people who must come to believe these charges and work to correct their behaviors and the children they are raising, you make it impossible for change to come.

The Women represent the largest sector of the democrat machine which is intent on either applying a little scotch tape on these problems, or defending the present sexually promiscuous, welfare building, anti-marriage and church busting liberalism we are lost.

Half the men are Gay, girlie-men, Hollywood liberal, or brained wasted over educated academicians who support the women who at about 80%, represent the electorate which must be opposed.

If you will not talk to the women, we can not, because they will do what you are doing.
They will call us misogynists.
