I now realize that it is not that the moderators don't LIKE this kind of discussion. Rather they are concerned that debating the topic will lead to anger, put downs, and other negative attitudes not becoming to Christians. Apparently that happened some time ago, before I joined the forum.

Yes, I have been told this also, but when I inquired why not erase nasty posts and band repeat offenders, I was told "rules are rules".

Free will is a compound topic. We have a measure of free will, but we are constrained to the level that we live at. We cannot make ourselves more than we are. We can either do well with what we have been given...or not. We certainly can't ascend to the spiritual plane by our own will. God decides who will ascend and who will be enlightened. We cannot even choose our own giftings.

But wherever we are, we have a responsibility to do what is right. There are 2 planes of righteousness, each with it's own way to proceed. We can choose to some degree to get with the program. However, we cannot choose what plane we will be on, and we cannot tell if we shall succeed or not. God decides...He saves...He justifies. We cannot convert or transform ourselves. We are just a vessel. We can choose to not be filled, however....like the foolish virgins who had no oil. They made bad choices. :o
