Well I am getting a scripture tattoo somewhere on my back and I was wondering if any of you could suggest a meaningful verse and where its located in the bible please. God bless all of you

solo, since the first part of that is making refernece to the death of someone, and symbolic cutting for tha tperson, would the tatoo only be bad if it honored the dead?

btw.. its OT so..

So what's the point in your getting a tattoo?

Is it because you "think" it's "cool" ?

Or is it because you are so well versed in scripture that you think you are going to make a great impression on people because you have a verse of scripture embedded on your skin? :-?

If you knew scripture well enough you wouldn't be asking what verse to imprint on your skin with a needle and ink.

I suggest you learn scripture and embed it in your heart before you embed it on your skin to show people how much you know about the bible and how a Godly christian character is defined within the Holy word of God. If you don't know which scripture to stick on your skin then how are you going to know which scripture to say to someone who approaches you in wanting to know about the teachings in the bible?

Ephesians 6:11-21 would be great scripture to learn before you go off sticking needles in your skin to make an impression on people because you think it's cool to have a tattoo.

If you want to be a good minister, how else but to learn scritpure and repeat it as Jesus did. All that he spoke was of the Father. He didn't rely on his (flesh) carnal mind to direct his life. I'd say you need to take more time to think about the life long impression that will be left on your skin and on others who are in your presence and see what impressions you leave behind on them of your behavior, and character as you go about your life professing your Christianity about town. Will that tattoo be the truth of what you leave behind and carry forward in your life, from one moment to the next, each and every moment of your life for the rest of your life?

God bless you while you continue in your studies of the Holy Word of God.

Leviticus 19:27
Do not trim off the hair on your temples or clip the edges of your beards.

Since I am not a Jew, and regularly trim both my temple and beard, and being as I will not stone my teenagers to death when they backtalk me, I figure tattoos are a non issue.

I have one tattoo, and will get no others, but I do like the look of the IHS (first three letters of Jesus' name)
http://www.jesuitasperu.org/fotos/pic365-IHS sello rojo.jpg
This is also an acronym for 'in His service.'
I would get this on a shoulder, if I were going to get another.

I want a tattoo, because it'll show that these are what I want embeded in me forever heart/soul and flesh.

How about Leviticus 19:28?

Solo you finally did it!

You made me laugh for a good bit with this one.....

Solo is right on this one.... Dont get a tatt man, you will REGRET it.... (not that I have one, I have friends that do and they have persuaded others to NOT follow)

Thats a pretty funny retort OC.....

Mind, Body and Soul...

I don't think it's "Cool", but I'd rather keep it in my mind, on my body and in my soul, it means alot to me persoanlly.

Personally, I'd say don't do get a tattoo, but seeing as how you seem to be adamant about it, then I'd say, discuss it with God.

Proverbs 22:2

"Rich and poor have this in common;
The Lord is the Maker of them all."

If you DO get one, I love Psalms 91. It talks about how God protects you and all. Or, Provers 3:5-6

If you're going to get a tattoo, it should be something you decide "hey, this has a lot of deep meaning for me, and I won't regret having gotten it in ten years." If you get your tattoo idea from an internet forum, you'll almost certainly regret it later.

I need an idea for a scripture verse... So no regret, because it's from the bible.

please, lets not take scripture out of context.

Er, what is the context of that scripture then?
You'll have to come into the universe where God is in order to understand the context. Let me know when you arrive and I'll tell you.

So, English doesn't work the same way in this mythological universe you speak of?

I was just checking out your location, and it says that you are in the universe without God, therefore you wouldn't understand the things of God until you get into God's universe. Your universe is mythological. God created the one I am in. If you don't believe this, you are in the wrong forum. Read the Terms of Service at http://www.christianforums.net/viewtopic.php?t=9219 before you go to much futher. I just want to know how else "Do not ... put tattoo marks on yourselves." is supposed to be interpreted. It seems pretty clear cut to me. I can't see how my belief or non-belief in God can change the meaning of that sentence.
