I have mentioned before that in my church we have a segment entitled "Giving Back to God." That is when we give our money donations and hear amazing stories about other people showing the love of Christ through their kind and selfless acts. So I figured why not create a thread about the different ways we give back to our communities since the Lord has already given us so much and share amazing and incredible stories that we have heard online or through other sources. These first two stories that I am presenting are showing us how much we can learn from children. I'm beginning to understand what Jesus meant that unless we become like children ourselves we will never enter the kingdom of God. This just proves that it doesn't take much to show an act of love and kindness. Let me just say, God bless these children.

Matthew 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

What I give is between me and the Lord. I'm sure all of us follow that of Matthew 25:34-40 as walking in love and compassion for others. :)

A man in England decided to work overtime every Sunday. His wife was very surprised as they didn't need it.

She was so concerned he had to tell her what he was doing. They lived next door to a young woman who had a few children. She was alone with them and too sick to work.

Every pay day he slipped out at night time and posted his overtime money through her door. She never found out who was doing it

That's the love of God working in them for sure. :cross

I'll share my story only because it's not that big a deal (in terms of money) but it is an answer to the call I feel to pray for and be sensitive to the needy.

We almost always drive by beggars. I know nothing about them. But then neither did the good Samaritan. It actually bothers me that I ignore people begging for money. I usually excuse it away.

So I've decided to make a change. If God wants more, He'll let me know. I've put 5 five dollar bills in a little compartment in my car (Jeep) When I see a person asking for money, I will give them a 5 dollar bill. (In some cases I know the people begging from either work or just living in this small town). When the 5 fives are used up, that's it for the month. I doubt I'll get through the money. But I'll probably come close.

Then, it's up to God from there. I'm looking for something else to give like a tract or something. I just want to be sensitive to God's call on my life and this is a start (remembering I was giving zero before).

It's not about the money but the response to the Spirit's tug on my heart.
