"God is good!"

I've said it; you've said it. When we hear of an answered prayer, we rejoice in God's goodness. But how often do we say it when things aren't going so well? When we experience a period of waiting? When we are suffering in times of trial and trouble? Then how often do we exclaim, "God is good," (especially with the exclamation point)?

Has there ever been a difficult time in your life where you were still able to proclaim God's goodness? Please share!
 
My boss at my last job falsified records to essentially frame me for something that I shouldn't have gotten in trouble for. I took action that I thought was what they wanted, but they had documentation that said this particular one I worked on was the exception. I didn't know that, so they falsified records to say that I'd already gotten the information and chose to disregard it. They then said I had been written up for it before and that this was a second offense.

I was blown away, but it was shortly after I had given my life over to Christ, so I knew that what man intended for evil, the Lord would use for good. Sure enough; I lost my job and had it replaced by one closer to home, better paying, and with a much better boss. That was several years ago and still serves as my best example of praising God and trusting in Him even when the world says that something bad is happening to us.
 
Photosmith is right. There isn't anything God can't redeem.

I heard someone tell a story about a woman in China who was punished (by the communists when Mao took power) for her faith. For 30 years she was forced to clean the open sewage ditches along a city block. Her faith remained strong even though for 30 years she neither knew another Christian or had a bible. That kind of faith in the face of such evil blows me away. And I think of her every time I enter a public restroom (yeah, I know that's kinda weird).

God redeemed that woman's life and taught me (and probably thousand's of others who heard that story) about sacrifice, faith, and trust.

Sometimes even when we ourselves don't' see any good out of a situation, doesn't mean God doesn't use it for amazing things somewhere else.

I do not think that is weird. I think it is the Holy Spirit that has revealed something about Jesus's character to you in such a powerful way, and He is constantly reminding you of it. It should be kind of reassuring to know that you will always remember this :)
