When a message like this comes up, it's because the search engine detects the possibility of automated searches (like some sort of bot, I guess) overloading the system coming either from your computer or a network that your computer is sharing. Automated searches is against Google's T.O.S. (If you own a Mac or Linux machine, just jump to item#2 as item #1 is very unlikely to be the case.)

1)Their first recommendation is to check for any malware that your Microsoft machine just effortlessly and as usual just picked up, maybe something you downloaded with malware on it as well. You'd be surprised how many people's machines are "running slowly" while they search the web, play games or whatever all the while their computer is acting as a technological slave to do the bidding and illegal activity of some nefarious group. If illegal activity is indicated from your computer (such as pornographic activity or copyright infringement), you may have LE kick in your door and search and arrest you without a warrant as with this administration they can do that with these new computer and internet laws. This is why the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the likes are all up in arms about this sort of spying on people's IP addresses. (RIAA for example had people sued without proof due to viruses, IP spoofing and so forth) :toofunny

2) Secondly, contact your network administrator (ISP) to complain to see if they can trace anything unusual if you are very sure it's not your machine.

3) If none of that works, have your network guru contact Google and see what the issue is.

Note: If you are out in the sticks and your computer is the only one and #2 does not apply, then I'll bet my retirement account that it's item#1 and that you are running Microsoft. Can't be anything else.

It doesn't happen when I use Opera. I reset my other browser and all these sons of guns started disturbing. Time to trust only Opera and IE

Laugh all you want, as I am a very funny man, I know. But based on what you are telling me, it sounds like your computer's been hijacked without your permission (except it's some sort of Trojan you deliberately downloaded). Actually in the latter case, that can happen on a Mac, but not on Linux at least not in my case because I do not get software "anywhere off the Internet" but at a repository. I think for the most part that's how Macs work, too.

However, unlike Microsofts they are not victims of "dry by" malware installation just by visiting a web site without the user's knowledge or permission. Mac's and Linux machines can only be deliberate, and even then one has to work very hard with Linux to deliberately try to get malware. The architecture of the Linux OS is such that even with malware, the kernel does not let programs just run and rifle through everything like communal Microsoft. Like a biological virus, if one has a good immune system, it quickly dies out. And also the malware can simply be deleted and that's the end of it, not after effects and erratic machine behavior like Microsoft even after deletion. Linux updates automatically patch and kill any known weaknesses and the OS is it's own virus protection of sorts.

That should be the problem. I switched network when I realised one of my ISPs (their network) are running a promo. It is almost free internet access. (about $0.001/MB :shocked)The whole heaven and earth are on the network now. I think they can't handle the traffic....The internet speed is faster than the speed of light from 12am to around 7am - probably a way to control traffic - os courfe!!!

OK, glad it's not a virus, but a crowded network. Now, do the next best thing and stop using google. Use Startpage.com. Google is like the Microsoft of search engines. Everyone uses it because, well, because I guess everyone follows the leader. Be individualistic and use another search engine (plus this one does not violate your privacy and record IP addresses). I guarantee you will not have a problem, that is with a Captcha popping up. Unfortunately, I don't think startpage has viral warnings and ratings like Google. Hmmmmm. I guess you'll have to choose between Captchas and viruses. :lol

Alternatives to transistor D13003A and surprisingly again: the crazy captcha.Time to go back to my original network. Every promo seems to have a stench in it.
