I about jumped out of my chair when I got my test returned last week. I made a B! You have to know my instructor...he's HARD. He really doesn't teach us. We are given review sheets and pretty much teach ourselves. But, I studied so hard because it was about the brain and how it works. We also learned about the parts of the brain. I know I'll be seeing this stuff again when I get in the nursing program and Bio, so I studied hard.

My previous test grades were C's and a D. :-?

I'm making an A in CIS and a B in English. Yay! I was so afraid I woudn't be able to do this stuff since I've been out of school for so long.

Awesome Nikki. Just keep Showin the power of Christ through your school work. We'll keep prayin for you too. 8-)

My instructor said today how proud he is of me. THAT's a good feeling.

I think I've figured out a study skill that works for me. I've noticed that if I read outloud, I can remember it so much better than if I read silently. Also, the book that we use has a website that has practice tests. Those come in really handy too because they are worded completely different from the way the instructor explained it. I feel a bit more prepared when I have more than one meaning of something.

Next semester is going to include my most hated subject....MATH. YUCK!

Just plain College Algebra, but you have to understand just how bad I am at math. I can add, subtract, multiply, divide....all the basics. The farthest I got in high school was Pre-Algebra (back then, we only needed 2 maths, so I took high school math and pre-A) and I barely passed it.

I despise math.

That's sad. So many people go through life without knowing the infinite pleasure of the path independency of work in a field of force and the utter despair that it only works under special circumstances.

Well Nikki, the best thing I can think of is to do some personal research. Wikipedia is your friend. Believe me it can help. And be happy that you're taking regular algebra, not Linear algebra.

I'm with you there. Being a christianity major here only requires one math. I'll probably take at least one more.

My instructor said that math is a process and once you understand the process, it just kind of "clicks". I hope that something "clicks" in my brain.

In high school, I was too worried about socializing. This time, school is SO different. I enjoy listening to my instructor. I have never in my life enjoyed listening to a teacher. Maturity has a lot to do with it, I'm sure. Plus, I don't want my brain to go to waste! Heck, there are 70 year olds going back to school. Now THOSE are some real motivators!
