Some churches use them to protect the pastor, I remember a woman tried to run up to the pulpit and stab my pastor, I was sitting right there looking at this. His bodyguards quickly threw her to the floor and held for the cops, which a member who was a cop helped out

Because you get used to it and you don't feel right without it. Like forgetting your phone or something. In my case my 45 holster is of the IWB type and over time it stretched out my belt and I needed it so my pants would stay up lol.

I remember one time at a pistol shoot, a guy offered me the opportunity to try shooting his 45 revolver. I had never handled a pistol before and he knew this. What he also failed to tell me was that the auto-loading pistol he gave me had a hair trigger. I squeezed off the first round and being unprepared, with every recoil it fired again so I rapidly emptied his magazine within just seconds. To me this is the kind of thing that can give we gun owners a bad name.

I also recall one guy pulled out a 45-70 revolver. That was the biggest pistol I had ever seen to this day.

I agree with you. I think that's rude to do to somebody. In the youbube shooting vids, I see occasionally that giving the GF a gun too big for her when she's unfamiliar with them just for the laughs and always cringe. People should have some class.

I agree. I will have some un christ like words to say after that to that person.

We don't really need a reason, do we brother?

I like your answer and you're correct. It isn't about church. It's just a thing people do that we get used to. Some people like to carry a flashlight, others their phone, still others a pistol. And why not? With the shape of this world, it isn't a bad idea.

Like they say, I'd rather have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

I have to admit my first reaction to Blake's response was a bit reserved but then after thinking about it, I agree with it. Why not? Part of my reaction I think is because of where I live. The idea of carrying any firearm for personal protection around here seems to be a bit of a stretch. I personally have never felt a need to do so. I have considered getting a permit to carry here in Minnesota but not for that reason. For me it would add a little convenience for hunting because it would allow me to carry my .44mag holstered while riding in my truck and then on my ATV out to my deer hunting area or when we do our fall ATV weekend I can carry it in the same way.

That's a good idea Brother. I had night sights put on my 44 Mag RH for that dusk walk back to camp when you always see critters for the pot. Then when I get home, I can set it on my nightstand and load it with 44 Specials for home defense.
