I think the whole "selling your soul to the devil" thing is completely metaphor. Mainly because I don't think there is any real biblical passage about it.


Most of the people that society claims sold their soul tend to be celebrities, businessmen, and athletes. So this make me think that its not the person themselves but the idea of stardom itself.

The reasons usually sighted is the decadence, money, and fame the person receives. this makes me wonder if its because of the social status, then doesn't the rest of the world view the USA or most of the West in the same light? We have luxuries such as running water, sewage, abundant food, Shelter, and stable economies and political atmospheres. To a third world country, wouldn't that look like us first worlders sold our souls?

No worshipping Satan in exchange for material gain is quite real. Just like Satan has angels under his command he also has people, some consciously following and conversing with him. I don't know what Katy Perry did but you wonder how songs about melting popsicals and tight jeans are like platinum records. There is quite a supernatural aspect to who is famous.

Its a parable, as in a story. There is no way to know if the story is based on a real event, or just a moral story made up to convey a point. Parables usually aren't stories of facts.

Heavy Marketing, Sex appeal, A relentless tour Scheduled, countless interviews and tv show appearances, professional song writing done on purpose to make pop songs, etc. Its not that hard to believe. She is just another cash in a record company is promoting heavily in order to make a buck until public interest waynes. Then she'll be traded out fro the next young female face where the process will be repeated.

Not really. People like attractive people with talent. Mix that in with companies that have marketing departments designed to sell an image and you get people like Justin Timberlake, Katty Perry, Madona, and Lady Gaga.

It all deals with our psychology for the most part.

Have you ever done any studying on who is famous or a success. It's not really the attractive people with talent. It has a lot to do with the subconscious and what they have been conditioned to expect. Oh course there are lots of talented famous people but you can't really listen to pop music and think this is the most talented and attractive group of people on the planet.

The Bible certainly says there is a supernatural aspect to who is a ruler. If you have ever heard of the evangelist Peter Gammons he prophesied that some woman would become president and she did. In the Bible God raised many people to authority. If you also remember Satan offered Christ power and material gain as a temptation. So if Satan tempted Christ this way it's highly likely he'd tempt men this way. So I also disagree that this concept is not Biblical.

Maybe I missed your exact meaning but are you saying that making a "pact with the Devil" gives people the right mind set to become a success even though they are not really making any pact. It's all in their mind?

No it's not just in their mind. I am not saying they can't be saved but people sacrificing animals and praying to Satan can have their lives influenced by Satan. Just watch some testimonies of former satanists on Youtube or online. I am not saying this is the route to fame of most or many. I have no idea how much influence Satan has on culture but I wouldn't guess a little.
