Very true.

Yeah, some of their lyrics are a little confusing at first. I see if I can look up the meanings when/if I can't decipher them for myself.
@questdriven :

I think it's good when lyrics, however simple, are at least clear, when they have a Christian meaning. (Otherwise there's not too much point...)

And some of them are clear.

Blessings.

PS: By 'not much point', I mean, not much point calling it Christian heavy metal.

(This is not to detract artistically from its quality as heavy metal.)

Blessings.

sorry I havent had a chance to get on here since my last post.
I was trying to be silly mixing spicy peppers with sqaush is equivalent to mixing heavy melodic guitar riffs with godly and biblical lyrics.
Or about as equivalent as mixing some really stout beat music to a psalm or testimony.
Benjamin Gate did a really awsome song i believe it was called Rush. If you ever have a chance to listen to it you should give a really attentive ear. the end of the song consists of the singer chanting the first part of psalm 1:1
Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not in the counsel of the wicked, or stand in the way of sinners, nor sitt in the seat of the mockers. :2 For his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law he meditates day and night.
She continues her chant with" What ever he does prospers oh oh What ever he does is prosperous What ever he does prospers oh oh What ever he does is prosperous "
and then continues the with verse one and two all the time the psychadelic melody increases with louder and more intense frequency.
The first time i played this at a bible study group as a special music / song I got some really strange looks and comments afterward people are so quick to judge.
The Psalm was the squash the heavy transical melodies where the peppers.
what can i say some cant handle spicy foods.

I'm pretty sure there is a scripure that says we should allow each other preference I did a study on that once i'll try to find it again

yea Rom chapter 14 is one of the scriptures used to support the idea but I was thinking about
Rom 12:10 In love of the brethren be tenderly affectioned one to another; in honor preferring one another;

There are actually alot of scriptures that suport the idea of giving preference to a brother and not being high minded as to dictate ones taste or gift as long as they are acting in a Godly manner of course there are some absolutes as far as what things are good as opposed to things witch are evil. and what to do and what not to do concerning Gods laws.

But when it comes to placing people in a different class because of the type of music they favor...... Well I think that we should at least offer our brothers and sisters the option to be themselves befor God in Purity and Honesty.

I have to be Honesty some hyms are very distasteful to me some others not so much however I do not feel that praise and worship music should limited to hyms because honestly I just simply cannot enjoy some of them wile i sing I would much rather sing a song to God that I enjoy singing so that the emition of that emotion can be presented to him as a pure offering of worship unhindered by a type of doubt.

... Bands with more overt lyrics but still heavy metal are preferable methinks. Like Disciple! Yeah!
Edward: Some of Disciple's lyrics are thoroughly Biblical and clear. Such as those of 'Battle Lines', for example.

Blessings.

Any one ever notice just how often some very successful secular bands had started out as christian bands or with christian intentions yet ended up denying any christian association all together. Evenesence being one of those such bands

I've seen this happen, but never paid much attention to how common it might be that they literally "ended up denying any christian association all together". Of course, I don't see that if a band that is made up of Christians and plays Christian music decides to also play secular music that it is necessarily "denying any christian association". As an analogy, just because the pastor of my church who preaches Christian sermons on Sunday is invited to speak on a secular subject at a secular gathering because he has public speaking talent and knowledge of that secular subject certainly doesn't mean he is denying Christ. I'm sure very few people would see it that way.

So why are we so quick to condemn Christian musicians who also play secular music or who maybe even switched to secular music exclusively? Everyone has to make a living (and that is Biblical!), and if you make a living as a musician, there's not a lot of financial return for playing in churches.

I wonder if eating spicy peppers is less righteous than eating sqaush....... Or what does it mean when you mix the spicy peppers with the sqaush? .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................:naughty

Not sure I follow...

What I got from it is that he's trying to say that saying a certain type of music is more or less spiritual than another is like saying a certain food is more or less spiritual than another. (I tend to agree, personally.) Is that what you meant, lowrab?

Okay, so my question is already answered. Sorry, I was away all week and didn't see the last page of this thread until now.

Well, you're perceptive, and having been away all week, you then got it straightway...

Hope you had a great time, anyway.

So, heard any good Christian metal lately?

Blessings.

The amount of demonically influenced mainstream music is saddening. You gotta be careful with music. Aleister Crowley, one of the most disgusting men to live had influence over the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and today's artists such as Jay-z.

"If one listens to the wrong kind of music, he will become the wrong kind of person.” ~Aristotle

Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging metal. I'm just saying that you gotta be careful: the more mainstream, the more likely it's demonic.

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Psalm 2:1-4

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
Colossians 3:17 NASB

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, I know God, but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.
A New Commandment

Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very beginning. This old commandmentto love one another is the same message you heard before. Yet it is also new. Jesus lived the truth of this commandment, and you also are living it. For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining. If anyone claims, I am living in the light, but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is still living in darkness. Anyone who loves another brother or sister is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble. But anyone who hates another brother or sister is still living and walking in darkness. Such a person does not know the way to go, having been blinded by the darkness.
I am writing to you who are God’s children
because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.
I am writing to you who are mature in the faith[d]
because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.
I am writing to you who are young in the faith
because you have won your battle with the evil one.
I have written to you who are God’s children
because you know the Father.
I have written to you who are mature in the faith
because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning.
I have written to you who are young in the faith
because you are strong.
God’s word lives in your hearts,
and you have won your battle with the evil one.
Do Not Love This World
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2:1-17

Shalom and blessings.

No. I heard some Christian rap at the camp I went to. PK One. Not my jam, but they were good. I might have bought a CD if I had had any money left when I found out there were some available. Normally, not a fan of that genre. But there are certain artists I enjoy to some degree.

I would like to add that viewing some of these types of documenteries can be very dangerous, I watch one such video on the illuminati,..
It was the first time I had ever been exposed to just how evil and detestible the things of the world really are and I believed it every bit of it and I still do,... But it made me feel dirty,... Filthy even,... I'm not really sure if these things are what the bible refers to as the secret things of satin But as far as I can tell they sure seem like they are.

Seriously just be carefull.!!!!

I myself went through some real spiritual termoil after being exposed to this stuff,...
I would warn you that It will flood your mind and you will find yourself thinking about it constantly. It is hard to ignore.
Its kind of like watching the news, I had to quit simply so that I do not have to worry about the intensity of evil that surrounds me every day.

Do not be afraid of seeing this stuff just make sure that your very well biblicaly grounded. and if you are zealous for GOD prepare for some devestatingly evil information.

I've commented on this before, and will not be pulled into any sort of argument or debate. So this is all I'm going to say on this particular matter:
I do think those kind of "documentaries" kinda exaggerate. (And look, I used to believe them and because it scared me once declared I would never listen to Christian rock.) And a lot of times the logic they use just seems...kinda...not...to me. :shrug
A lot of times the news media builds up hype, too. The horror, the scandalous, the shock story...these things sell better than the comparatively boring reality.

I'm not saying that bad things don't happen or that there's nothing to be concerned about. What I am saying is this: Some things are possible but not probable. And some of the things said in those kind of articles honestly do not seem at all probable to me.

Carry on...

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28 (KJV)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. We love, because He first loved us. If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also. 1 John 4:15-21 (NLT)

Don’t brush off Spirit-inspired messages, but examine everything carefully and hang on to what is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 (CEB)

Love and blessings to you.
Shalom.
