Hi my name is Sarah. I was born in Ferguson, Missouri but we moved here to Southern Missouri when I was around 10. I then began going to a small Baptist church moved but attended another and throughout highschool continued to attend but struggled to pay attention I thought I was saved at 13 but I don't think I was. I just began going to a church as an adult on Easter. It's a large Christian Center. I am really new to this. I've always believed but never really had a relationship with Christ. And I am here to work on that and also have many questions. I am happy to become a member.

Welcome Sister Intuitive change to these forums of Christian fellowship, and I hope you are blessed among us in Jesus' name. I might add that I believe you are fully employed in having three children, but then to add a husband too? Come right on in and make yourself to home with us. :wave2

Hi there Sarah. During the almost 50 years of serving Jesus as a Shepherd of three Baptist Churches, I have counseled quite a few folk who made decisions for Jesus, but later on were unsure of the validity of that decision.

About a month ago, I started counseling a woman in a different Forum, not CF.net, who was in the same situation. The following is what I posted for her (Name was Nai) to seek our Heavenly Father and Jesus for absolute truthful biblical Salvation.

If you follow this, you will be saved and the Holy Spirit will, in a special way, identify with you.

Ok Dear Nai. I'm so sorry that this has taken so long. My guess is that Satan doesn't want to loose you. He's got you to believe you're saved when you're not. Now I'll lead you into real biblical Holy Spirit fired Salvation by His doing, not mine.

First comes confession and repentance. I know from your recent posts that you've done a lot of confessing sins. I want to tell you about that process in the early centuries of Jesus' Churches.

The leaders (Elders) of the local church would select one Elder to spend seven days with each "seeker" who wanted to be saved. This Elder would spend up to seven days for the seeker to know beyond a shadow of a doubt about repentance from the sins that he/she had confessed. Which simply means that they will not go back and PRACTICE those sins. Occasionally they might slip and commit the sin, but not go back and make that sin an every day practice.

That is what you must determine in your heart/mind to do.

Now that you understand the confession of sin and repentance, you are ready to receive Jesus, the Son of God into your heart as your Lord Who will become your Master Owner because you are....

1Co 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
1Co 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
1Co 6:20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."

Nai, you were bought from sin to righteous living by the shed Blood of Jesus on the cruel cross by His death and resurrection.

If you believe that Jesus, the Son of God died to save you from your sins and forgive you so that you could enter the Kingdom of God, you will be saved....

Romans 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
10:11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."
10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.
10:13 For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Nai, if you have confessed your sins, and are determined not to go back into them, if you have believed in the Scriptural account of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Son of God, Jesus, and desire in your heart to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, YOU ARE SAVED!

Now, Jesus has come into your life....Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Now go from here, knowing that you are biblically saved, away from the grips of Satan, and under the power of Pentecostal power, Go forth and be not ashamed of Jesus, and represent Him to those of whom the Holy Spirit leads you too.

Go in the power of Almighty God Nai, I bless you in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God.

Ok Dear Sister Sarah. I trust that you prayed thru this commitment to your Heavenly Father and Jesus. If you did this, as an adult, you have just been born into our wonderful Family of God, and will spend eternity with them in the New Jerusalem.

Now don't be hesitant to ask me any question that you might have about Salvation or the Scriptures. You are my new friend, and I'm here for you in Jesus Name.

In Jesus, Sarah, I Love You,
Chopper

hi and welcome. I can related. I thought I was a Christian for a little while, because I'd gone off to a Pentecostal treatment program. Then...by a miracle, The Lord intervened and I got genuinely, truly saved. That was 4 1/2 years ago.

I'm glad you're here, btw. We have plenty of places for you to post questions, contribute to ongoing discussions, etc. CFnet has lots of high quality members, too. Most of us here are Protestant, and as a whole we seem to lean towards a more traditional view of Christian doctrine.
Welcome to CFnet. I hope+pray that you will find some support, compassion, guidance, etc. here. :)

Thank you all for making me feel wellcomed, I'm confident I will find all the answers I'm searching for here. I know that becoming a true Christian can be difficult, I can use as much support as I can get. I am very thankful having found these Forums.

hi. me again. I don't think becoming a true Christian is difficult so much as...it requires direct action from God. I'm sure other people will disagree, but with my own salvation experience and walk with The Lord so far...I've come to think (at times...) that God knows who His children are, even before we even have the slightest inclination to think on the things of Christ. His work in our lives is what sets us apart from the (as-yet) unredeemed masses on the broad road that leads to destruction.

I have an older, wiser, Pentecostal friend, Verna. I'm 33, she's in her mid-70s. She saw me while I was on an outing at a church she was attending, and The Lord put it on her heart to talk to me and keep in touch with me. That was over 7 years ago. Verna has become a genuine friend, which is hard to come by in 21st century America. She's also something of a 2nd mother and her advice and support and prayers have been absolutely essential to my walk with The Lord.

OK. I guess I'm saying...CFnet is great, church is great, but I do want to encourage you to find an older, wiser, experienced Christian who will take the time to pour into your life (and you'll do your part in the friendship too, I'm sure...). People need people. Christians definitely need other Christians. Christians who are just beginning the journey in earnest need older, mature Christians for friendship and for mentoring.

Again...welcome to CFnet! We've got all kinds of subforums here, so I would like to once again encourage you to jump in and "get a feel" for the place. Whether you're posting on current events, seeking advice, posting prayer requests, or...just putting fun stuff in The Lounge, remember: as iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. :)

Thank you for the advice. I believe the majority of the members of the Christian center I go to are penecostal because they remind me so much of a penecostal friend I had in highschool. I love the way they praise God they seem to have even such a strong relationship with him.
I was attending small laid back Baptist churches and this one is full of ecitment and the way they pray is different. And I guess I still feel like the odd one out. I think that's why it's difficult for me. But once I become more comfortable I believe it will be easier. The People at this church are so kind and polite. The children's program is amazing. Even when they are standing and singing and clapping while I'm nervously just sitting there I still LOVE being there.
My parents never spoke of Jesus but allowed me to go with friends on the van to church. My other family members aunt's, uncle's, cousins, mock Christianity. Their anti-Christian type post once filled my newsfeed and I had to block their post. I feel like that is another reason for me feeling this is difficult BUT I am starting to ignore the comments, I no longer have interest in the music I once listened to, the shows and jokes that once had me laughing no longer amuses me. I feel I've strayed from family and friends but for a good reason.
