I am a hermit who has lived in a city, towns, and wilderness. Currently in a coastal rural town. I am drawn to the hermit lifestyle. For me, everything about it has a connection with Christ and God. I have collected many images in this regard and enjoy looking at them now and again. Most bring fond memories of my own experiences. I will regularly post an image on this thread for those who wish to return to it and see what's been updated.

If you have an image in the spirit of what a hermit and hermitage is about, please feel free to share it with us.

No images to share, but I have been a member at this very serious hermit site for quite a few years: http://hermitary.com/ They have a forum - which, as you might expect of a hermit's site, is almost completely inactive! They do have an entire section of "Images of Eremitism," http://hermitary.com/features/.

I also have these two books on my Kindle, both of which I found to be worthwhile: https://www.amazon.com/Consider-Ravens-Contemporary-Hermit-Life/dp/193623663X and https://www.amazon.com/Eremitic-Lif...rd_wg=Bog43&psc=1&refRID=13JQX79GWRA5Z36JXDKC.

I have been in semi-hermit mode for quite awhile - no TV, minimal outside contacts. That sounds impossible for a lawyer, but I am actually a lawyer for other lawyers and do all of my work remotely from a very simple home in a very small town. I am retiring completely in the next few weeks and am considering going into full "urban hermit" mode, which means that I will no longer be participating on forums such as this. I can hardly wait to unplug and throw the damn PC into the dumpster.

Thanks for response. Have seen and read everything posted except for The Eremitic Life. There are also some wonderful biographies of hermits of Orthodox Christians.
For last several years I've been getting Raven's Bread Newsletters.
I am sure you will enjoy the urban hermit lifestyle.
When it is time, if it is God's will, I hope to go back to full rural hermit mode, and stay there until my last breath.

I researched your reply and could not find any reference to it.
Would you like to expand on what your response refers to.

In Russian, no less! No only do the Orthodox have a long eremitic tradition, but many people do not realize what a long and deep tradition of belief the Russians have and how much they have contributed to the development of Christian thought. I was struck this week in reading William Lane Craig's Reasonable Faith, where he describes Dostoevsky (The Brothers Karamazov) as a far deeper and more profound thinker than C. S. Lewis. In my visits to my wife's home country of Belarus, I've been struck that the believers are "devout" and "spiritual" in a way you seldom encounter in the U.S. It's palpable - you can literally feel it. I just finished The Way of a Pilgrim, https://www.amazon.com/Way-Pilgrim-...1507041753&sr=8-1&keywords=the+way+of+pilgrim, which is not really eremitic but has that feel to it.

My heart is full of joy to know that you are loving the love that others love in Christ and God.
Keep on your road least traveled to find the good least-altered fruits, for they taste the best and full of loving nourishment.
As you know, but just reminding you, let the Spirit in your heart, your heart consciousness, guide you in all matters.

From original thread post.
Images got accidently deleted. Here they are again.

About Elijah:
1 Kings 17:6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
