I remember hide and seek as a kid. It was fun. Especially when someone else was the seeker and were seeking you...and you could see them but they didn't see you. There is a significant amount of humor in watching someone stumbling around looking for you and they have no clue where you are..while you watch them. :lol:rofl2:hysterical

It occurs to me what an incredible sense of humor our Lord has! He plays hide and seek with us. He is always there. He is here with me right now. He is right there in the room with you also, right now. He always has been from our birth until now and has never left even once. (Hebrews 13:5). So as we go through life day by day and we are not aware of His presence there with us...we slip into the flesh and begin doing our own thing and making our own decisions of what to do and where we will go.

Imagine if you had some company come over to your house. Your best friend. Are you going to leave him sit in the living room and go downstairs and watch a movie or play a video game by yourself? Have you ever had someone come over, and then somehow forget they was there?! But we do this every day to our Lord. So I have turned my back to the Lord countless times in my life. He never left, I did. You did.

Those times in my life that I felt that God was distant from me, He wasn't. I was, in my mind and spirit, giving my mind and attention to any thing else on this planet except the presence of God beside me. And you bet he is still there! Waiting patiently on me/you to turn towards Him and speak. He loves us soo much that He wants nothing less than a total intimate interaction and relationship with me/you. Best friend. Teacher, mentor, guidance, Father, Lord!! (Wow!)

And there goes Edward off on his own, making a fool of himself, Lol! Totally unaware of His presence because I can't see Him. Our Lord is playing hide and seek with us, but He is standing right here/there. Once one realizes that He is there you can turn towards Him and speak with Him. In your mind and your spirit. He speaks to our heart, not our mind (usually).

It is very important that we never lose our awareness of the presence of God with us. When we give our attention to God being with us, our mind, spirit and focus, we come into His presence. It is then, that He inhabits us and guides us, protects us, helps us. It is then, that we are being led by the Spirit of God. Walking in the Spirit. You can bet good money that when Peter walked on water, when his first foot touched the water...his eyes were locked on Jesus's eyes!
Matthew 14:29
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.../

Then, Peter took his attention off of Jesus just for a moment, and what happened?
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.../

He was on His own and could have died. But how are we supposed to keep our eyes on Jesus if He is playing hide and seek with us? He tells us how to in 2 Corinthians 4:18
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.../

This game of hide and seek began on the day of Pentecost. Jesus did the hide and seek thing a few times in scripture before Pentecost too. On the road to Emmaus with the disciples, by the tomb to Mary, and very probably when the angry Jews were going to throw Him off of the cliff and He could not let that happen because His time had not yet come, so He did a number on the crowd and walked out through their midst to get away. They couldn't find Him.

Most of you know that I have started inviting the Lord to come with me out into the world and to work with me every day.I know He comes with me. I know He would even if I didn't invite Him. He has helped me, when I was aware of His presence and asked for help. We have to remember this, that our awareness of His presence is a vital and critical component of our walk with Him. Invite Him to accompany you today when you go out. He wants to be our constant companion.

Edward I find that an incredible post And :amen
If we were to remember that God was with us all the time our faith would be strengthened, and we would find it much easier to resist temptation.
There is nothing so beautiful as feeling the presence of the Lord.
Thank you for posting from your heart. It helps tremendously.

The only thing that I disagree about this post is we CAN see God if we just open our eyes. He is everywhere around us, we just have to look in the right places just like in Hide and Seek. :)

Edward, another great post :clap

We do need to make ourselves aware that no matter where we are or what we are doing Jesus is always there with us even though at times we do not recognize Him. He will always make himself known to us when we seek Him we will find Him.

That's the rub, apart from the Holy Spirit indwelling us, accomplishing our destiny that the Lord has for us, we can not do it on our own. I fail every day somehow, lol. It takes a constant awareness of the presence of God. Jesus said He would send a comforter and helper, and He did. The Holy Spirit. Every morning we have to invite the Holy Spirit and He comes as our helper. The Jacobs ladder story illustrates that the Holy Spirit is the ladder to Jesus who was standing beside the Father, Jesus will come later and manifest Himself to us eventually. I talk to Jesus all day when we drive around and some at service calls. Out loud. Asking Him if He will manifest Himself to me and speak with me, teach me...He hasn't though, not yet.

Well, I am pretty sure that He did come one night when I had woke up at 3 am for no apparent reason and it was cold and snowy out. Then a knock at the door. I didn't answer it. Later it seems it was impressed on my heart that, that was Jesus and I wouldn't answer the door! (Scripture says, Behold He stands at the door and knocks...and that's what happened. I felt so bad. I still do. I digress.

Being connected to the Holy Spirit is not supposed to be spotty. We have to be connected moment by moment 24/7. All of us have already proved that, we would fail apart from the Lord. Actually I think it works out to...10% of our effort and 90% God. and in our weakness is His strength, so all we have to really do is tobe on our knees saying here I am Lord, what next?

and listen and obey. when the Lord speaks, you will hear Him if you are listening.
