Close. Technically, His laws didn't change. (Jesus spoke to this, the whole lot and tittle thing) A new Covenant became available, whereby instead of our relationship with Him being based on the law, it is based on Grace.

Paul's writings address this extensively, which is where your copy of The Message will serve you quite well
